  • Patent number: 5206616
Abstract: A switching device for the interruption of a fault current includes a housing having first and second electrical connectors for connection in the path of an electrical conductor carrying a single current phase. A vacuum switching chamber is disposed in the housing. A current transformer disposed in the housing includes a primary circuit connected between the first and second terminals for conducting the single current phase and inducing a corresponding current in a secondary winding. A magnet actuator disposed in the housing is electrically coupled to the transformer secondary winding. • Patent number: 5055639
Abstract: A contact arrangement for a vacuum switch having a switch axis along which switch contacts move. Two identically configured switch contacts are relatively movable opposite to one another along the switch axis. Each switch contact includes: a contact pin for connecting the switch contact with a switch terminal; a contact plate; and a coil body for generating an axial magnetic field. The coil body has at least one winding section extending circumferentially parallel to the contact plate and has a first end connected with the contact plate and a second end connected by an approximately radial conductor section with the contact pin. The side of the winding section facing the contact plate lies continuously against the contact plate and is connected with the contact plate in a conductive manner over the entire length of the winding section.

  • Patent number: 5003427
Abstract: A metal enclosed multi-phase high voltage switching arrangement filled with compressed gas and provided with an interior protective wall between the bus bar chamber and the switch chamber. The electrical connection between the two chambers is established via gas tight passages or passthroughs arranged diagonally in the protective wall, with the passages being disposed, in one direction, at the spacing between the bus bars and, in the other perpendicular direction, at the spacing of the poles of the high voltage power or load switch in the switch chamber. Straight connections without crossovers are provided in the bus bar chamber between each bus bar and the associated passage via the respective disconnect or three-way position bus bar switch, while the connecting lines in the switch chamber from the passages to the respective poles of the high voltage switch extend in mutually parallel planes, here again without cross-overs.

  • Patent number: 4983793
Abstract: A switch chamber for a vacuum switch including a housing having at least one insulating tube with an end face and an axial axis. A contact pin having an exterior surface is arranged for supporting the switch chamber. A stationary contact is held by the contact pin within the housing and has a frontal face. A movable contact contacts the frontal face of the stationary contact in the on-position of the vacuum switch under the force of a contact spring. A seal including a bellows connects the movable contact with the housing in a vacuum-tight manner. A terminating cover is connected to the insulating tube and to the contact pin in a vacuum-tight manner and transfers to the housing impact forces generated when the vacuum switch is switched on. The insulating tube comprises a ceramic tube.

  • Patent number: 4975552
Abstract: A vacuum switch which has a housing for a vacuum chamber. The housing includes a metal cylinder and an insulating cylinder axially aligned and hermetically sealed at adjacent ends, and closed at opposite ends by end walls. A stationary electrode and a movable electrode are provided in the vacuum chamber, surrounded by the metal cylinder. Stationary and movable electrode lead rods are fixed to the respective electrodes and project in opposite directions from the chamber through the end walls. A magnetic coil whose coil body is molded in an approximately bell-shape and is made of an electrically and thermally conductive material, surrounds the metal cylinder with a winding that is connected by way of an input lead with the electrode lead rod penetrating the end wall closing an end of the metal cylinder. A relatively thick top portion of the coil body is disposed above the end wall and has a rounded upper end, while a less thick cylindrical side wall surrounds the metal cylinder and has a rounded lower end.
