Abstract: Methods of manufacturing a length of a flexible polymeric medical tubing of the kind comprising a tubing member defining a lumen, which tubing member is surrounded by spiral convolutions along at least a part of the length of the proximal section and/or the distal section, and which medical tubing has a proximal convoluted section and a distal convoluted section, is disclosed, as well as medical tubings obtained by the methods and their uses. One method comprises the steps of providing a medical tubing wherein the proximal section and the distal section have substantially uniform initial pitch (Pinitial) between adjacent convolutions, and modifying the initial pitch (Pinitial) of at least a part of the proximal section by stretching at least a part of the proximal section to achieve a modified proximal section with a proximal pitch (Pproximal) between adjacent convolutions that is larger than the initial pitch (Pinitial) between adjacent convolutions.

  • Publication number: 20140155890
Abstract: An elongated electrosurgical instrument (1) serves to at least cutting and coagulating tissue of a patient during surgery by application of electrical energy supplied from an electrosurgical generator to a surgical site. The electrosurgical instrument has a hollow elongated main body with and electrode means (3). Suction means comprises a suction channel (27), a first suction port (40) facing the electrode means (3), and a second suction port (41) provided with a suction tubing (11) in communication with a vacuum source. A switch means (4) is provided on the elongated main body (2) and arranged for supplying the electrical energy to the first means (3) in response to operating an actuator (4;4?). The switch means (5) comprises at least one first electrical contact (42;43) and at least one second electrical contact (44).

Abstract: A coupling means (8;8?;8?,14) serves for connecting a suction channel (27) of an electrosurgical instrument (1) to a vacuum source via a suction tubing (11) and/or for guiding an electrical cable (12), that supplies electrical energy from an electrosurgical generator to the electrosurgical instrument (1). The electrosurgical instrument (1) comprises a hollow elongated main body (2) having a first end (7) for securing a first means (3) for application of the electrical energy to a surgical site and an opposite second end (9), which hollow elongated main body (2) has a switch means (5) to be operated by means of an associated actuator (4) to control application of the electrical energy to the surgical site.
