  • Patent number: 10098405
Abstract: Multi-axis quick-release gimbal hinges that releasably attach a face protector to a helmet. The hinges allow the face protection to be easily and quickly released from the as-worn position to a position hanging from the other side of the helmet—even if the user has only a single hand free to release the face protector, and further to be fully detached from the helmet if desired. The present multi-axis quick-release gimbal comprise at least two degrees of freedom due to two gimbal hinges and also facilitate re-attachment compared to former systems, for example because the dual-gimbal hinge configuration holds the face protector in a particularly easy-access positions and/or by providing a rotational stop.
