Abstract: A system and method for replacing or retrofitting aircraft galley monuments that include standard inserts therein with monuments that include at least some spaces for larger non-standard inserts.

Abstract: A lavatory monument assembly that includes an enclosure having front and rear walls and that defines an enclosure interior. A divider wall that extends between the front and rear walls, and a divider door that is movable between closed and opened positions. In the closed position the divider door divides the enclosure interior into first and second lavatory interiors. The divider wall includes first and second sections and the divider door includes first and second portions that meet at an obtuse angle. The divider door is pivotably attached to the divider wall. The front wall includes first and second lavatory doors that are both movable between closed and opened positions and provide access to the first and second lavatory interiors. A first toilet is positioned adjacent the rear wall in the first lavatory interior and a second toilet is positioned adjacent the rear wall in the second lavatory interior.

Abstract: An electro-mechanical unlocking device that includes a locking state, a holding state and an unlocking state. The unlocking device includes an arming solenoid and a holding solenoid. In the locking state the arming solenoid moves an arming assembly, which moves a crank and which moves a holding armature from a second position to a first position. In the holding state the holding solenoid is energized and the arming solenoid is de-energizing, which allows the arming armature to moves from the first position to the second position. In the unlocking state the holding solenoid is de-energized, which allows the holding armature and the arming link to move from the first position to the second position. In the locking and holding states a sear blocks the path of the striker and in the unlocking state the sear does not block the path of the striker.

Abstract: A bench seat assembly that includes a first seat that includes a seat portion and a back, a second seat that includes a seat portion and a back, and a center portion positioned between the first and second seats. The first seat is bifurcated by a first vertical plane, the second seat is bifurcated by a second vertical plane, and the center portion is bifurcated by a center vertical plane. The first seat is angled outwardly such that the first plane defines a first acute angle with the center plane and the second seat is angled outwardly such that the second plane defines a second acute angle with the center plane. The first acute angle and the second acute angle are approximately the same.

Abstract: A hinge assembly for an aircraft overhead storage bin that includes a housing having a hinge space and a hinge opening defined therein, an arm pivotably connected to the housing within the hinge space, and a dampener. The hinge opening communicates the hinge space with an exterior of the housing. The arm is pivotable between a closed position and an open position and extends through the hinge opening such that the first end of the arm is positioned outside of the housing. The dampener includes first and second ends. The first end is connected to the housing and the second end is connected to the arm. The dampener biases the arm from the closed position to the open position.

Abstract: A door damper assembly that includes a housing, a damper that includes a fixed end and a movable end disposed within the housing, a carriage assembly that is movable within the housing between a closed position and an open position, a claw assembly pivotably attached to the carriage assembly, and a spring positioned to bias the carriage assembly to the closed position. The movable end of the damper is secured to the carriage assembly. The claw assembly is movable with the carriage assembly between the closed position and the open position. The claw assembly is movable relative to the carriage assembly between a non-toggle position and a toggle position. The claw assembly includes a pin receiving space defined therein that defines a claw axis that is generally vertical when the claw is in the non-toggle position and not vertical when the claw assembly is in the toggle position.

Abstract: A hose that includes a main body portion that defines a lumen extending therethrough and includes an outer surface, at least a first axially extending protrusion extending outwardly from the main body portion, and at least a first axially extending slot defined in the outer surface of the main body portion. The hose defines a hose axis. A portion of the first axially extending protrusion is secured in a portion of the first axially extending slot.

Abstract: A saloon-type door assembly that includes left and right door assemblies that each include a frame adapter having a curved inner surface with a first apex, a front portion and a rear portion, a door adapter that includes a curved outer surface with a second apex a front portion and a rear portion, a door panel associated with the door adapter, at least one front hinge strip secured along a front hinge strip path, and at least one rear hinge strip that is secured along a rear hinge strip path. The front hinge strip path extends from the front portion of the curved outer surface of the door adapter to the rear portion of the curved inner surface of the frame adapter. The rear hinge strip path extends from the rear portion of the curved outer surface of the door adapter to the front portion of the curved inner surface of the frame adapter. The door panels are movable between a front open position, a closed position and a rear open position.

Abstract: A door assembly configured to be positioned between a first compartment and a second compartment that includes a main door portion having a first decompression opening defined therein, at least a first panel portion positioned in a first position within the first decompression opening, and a decompression sensor. The first panel portion is movable linearly between the first position and a second position and is pivotable between the second position and a third position. In the third position the first compartment is in fluid communication with the second compartment via the first decompression opening.

Abstract: A hinge assembly for an aircraft overhead storage bin that includes a housing having a hinge space and a hinge opening defined therein, an arm pivotably connected to the housing within the hinge space, and a dampener. The hinge opening communicates the hinge space with an exterior of the housing. The arm is pivotable between a closed position and an open position and extends through the hinge opening such that the first end of the arm is positioned outside of the housing. The dampener includes first and second ends. The first end is connected to the housing and the second end is connected to the arm. The dampener biases the arm from the closed position to the open position.

Abstract: A countertop assembly and method of making same. The method includes obtaining at least first and second layers that each include first and second alignment openings defined therein, disposing adhesive onto the upper surface of the first layer or the bottom surface of the second layer, stacking the second layer on the first layer, aligning the first alignment openings and aligning the second alignment openings, inserting a first alignment rod through the aligned first alignment openings, inserting a second alignment rod through the aligned second alignment openings, allowing the adhesive to dry to form a countertop stack assembly, and machining the countertop stack assembly to remove at least a portion of a surface of the first layer and at least a portion of a surface of the second layer to form a finished countertop assembly.

Abstract: An aircraft that includes a fuselage having a floor, first and second outboard walls and an aisle, and a first seat and storage system that is positioned between the first outboard wall and the aisle. The first seat and storage system includes a seat that includes a seat back and a seat portion, and a storage assembly that includes a storage portion and an extension portion. The storage portion defines a storage interior and a storage opening and includes a cover that is movable between an open position and a closed position. The storage opening faces the aisle. The extension portion extends from the storage portion toward the first outboard wall. The storage assembly defines a top surface to which the seat is secured. The storage assembly defines an under seat cavity below a bottom surface of the extension portion.

Abstract: An overhead storage bin that includes a housing that defines a bin interior, a bucket or a door that is movable with respect to the housing between an open and a closed position, a projector positioned in or on the housing, and a display member positioned on the housing, wherein the projector is configured to project information onto the display member.

Abstract: A panel assembly that includes inside and outside core layers, an armor layer sandwiched between the inside and outside core layers, and an armor member that includes at least an outside portion and a transverse portion. The outside core layer includes a cut out portion defined therein. The armor layer has opposing first and second major surfaces. The outside portion of the armor member is positioned in the cut out portion of the outside core layer and the outer surface of the transverse portion is generally perpendicular to the first and second major surfaces of the armor layer.

Abstract: Tubular bodies for use in frames for seats of vehicles such as aircraft are described. A tube can include a sidewall that has a variable thickness along the length of the tube. The variable thickness of the sidewalls can result in the tube having a variable inner diameter along the length of the tube. The tube may also include a variable outer diameter.

Abstract: An overhead storage bin display system that includes an overhead storage bin defining a bin interior and a display member associated with the overhead storage bin. The display member is configured to display passenger related information within at least first and second passenger sections. The passenger related information displayed in the first passenger section includes first passenger identifying information and the passenger related information displayed in the second passenger section includes second passenger identifying information. The first passenger identifying information includes at least one of a seat number associated with a first passenger and a name associated with the first passenger. The second passenger identifying information includes at least one of a seat number associated with a second passenger and a name associated with the second passenger.

Abstract: A system for reserving space in aircraft overhead storage bins. The system includes an aircraft and a reservation system. The aircraft includes at least a first storage bin that defines a first bin interior that is divided into at least first and second baggage sections. The aircraft is associated with a flight date and a flight time. A first passenger can utilize the reservation system to make a first reservation to reserve at least one of the first and second baggage sections prior to the flight date and the flight time.

Abstract: A method for providing a honeycomb core assembly that includes obtaining a honeycomb core having at least first and second cells that each define a cell interior having an open bottom and an open top, contacting the honeycomb core with a liquid foaming adhesive, contacting a hardening agent with the liquid foaming adhesive, and allowing the hardening agent and liquid foaming adhesive to react to harden and form a first barrier member that spans the cell interior of the first cell and a second barrier member that spans the cell interior of the second cell, thereby forming the honeycomb core assembly.

Abstract: An aircraft that includes a cabin interior that is bifurcated into first and second sides and includes a pilot zone and a passenger zone aft of the pilot zone, a pilot seat positioned in the pilot zone and on a first side of the cabin interior, and first and second rows positioned in the passenger zone. The front row includes first and second front seats positioned on first and second sides of the cabin interior, respectively. The first and second front seats are angled away from one another and the second front seat is positioned forwardly of the first front seat. The back row includes first and second back seats positioned on first and second sides of the cabin interior, respectively.

Abstract: A door latch assembly configured to be used in an aircraft lavatory door. The door latch assembly includes a housing that includes a housing interior, a switch member operatively associated with the housing that is rotatable between a first position and a second position, and a locking bolt that is movable linearly between an unlocked position and a locked position. Rotation of the switch member from the first position to the second position moves the locking bolt from the unlocked position to the locked position.
