Patent number: 10442996Abstract: Ultra-clean char and ultra-clean gaseous hydrocarbons are produced from a carbon-based feedstock to generate maximum efficiency uniform heat and/or electricity in a clean environmentally friendly process. The ultra-clean char and ultra-clean gaseous hydrocarbon streams are produced by pyrolizing organic matter, such as coal or pet coke or any other carbon-based material including land, sea, plastics and industrial waste. The pyrolized organic matter may be combusted in the presence of oxygen to produce heat, which can be used to generate electricity in a conventional boiler/generator system. Further, pyrolized organic matter can be combusted in the presence of carbon dioxide and further processed to produce various hydrocarbons. In other embodiments, the ultra-clean post-combustion ash may be subjected to an extraction process for capturing valuable rare earth elements.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2018Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: SAgA Fuel SYSTEMS, INC.Inventor: Deborah Wenzel

Patent number: 9334796Abstract: A Coal-to-Liquid Fuels production process by which carbon dioxide (CO2) exhaust by-products are significantly reduced, if not eliminated, through a system comprising the generation of a first hydrogen (H2) product and carbon from coal and generating carbon monoxide (CO) by reacting the Carbon (C) with CO2. A second hydrogen (H2) product is generated through catalyzation of water, methane reformation, electrolysis of water, or other reaction processes. Carbon monoxide (CO) is reacted with the first and second hydrogen (H2) products to form a first hydrocarbon group having Olefins. The first hydrocarbon group, as Olefins, are further reacted to form C1-40 alcohols, Kerosene, Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, and Jet Fuel, and combinations thereof. At least a portion of the finished fuel blends are optionally used to generate electricity for use in the fuels production process or for distribution to an external power grid.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2014Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Assignee: SAGA FUEL SYSTEMS, INC.Inventor: Deborah Wenzel

Patent number: 6946008Abstract: The present invention relates to an additive composition for a combustible fuel to produce improved combustion and reduced exhaust pollution of the combusted fuel, which additive composition comprises: a) one or more water-soluble alcohols having between 1 and 5 carbon atoms, in an anhydrous state or as a 0.5-36% aqueous solution, and one or more of the following: b) one or more straight- or branched-chain alcohols having between 6-18 carbon atoms; c) one or more ethoxylated alcohols having between 12 and 18 carbon atoms where the ethylene oxide add-on is less than 5 moles; d) a fatty acid of the structure R—(C?O)—OH having from 10 to 24 carbon atoms with e) a source of nitrogen in an anhydrous state or as an aqueous solution; wherein components a) to e), when combined with mixing with said combustible fuel, form a clear, stable microemulsion having a viscosity similar to the liquid fossil fuel. Combustion is improved and pollutant and particulate levels are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2001Date of Patent: September 20, 2005Assignee: Saga Fuel Systems, Inc.Inventor: Deborah Wenzel
