Patents Assigned to Saga Petroleum A.S.
  • Patent number: 4790172
Abstract: A method for providing a tubular node in framework truss structures, such as offshore platforms for oil drilling and production activities of the type consisting of interconnected legs and braces of steel tube elements. For formation of the transition between leg and brace in the node is utilized a blank of rolled plate steel, which is given the desired curved shape corresponding to the curvature of the leg. The blank is pressed or extruded in a suitable press tool formed with an outwardly extending brace stub at the desired angle, which brace stub is designed for welding to a complementary brace tubing in the framework. Thereafter, the blank with the brace stub is welded into the leg proper and constitutes a wall segment of the leg in the node.

  • Patent number: 4778308
Abstract: Arrangement in an offshore concrete platform comprising a base structure (1) and at least one tower structure (3) having a tower foot (5). The tower foot (5) is supported by a pair of annular, downwardly diverging, conical shell structures (6,7) forming a transition to the base structure (1). The shell structure (6,7), having angles of inclination which can be varied independently of each other, advantageously may be supported directly by the walls of respective cylinders (11,12) being an integral part of the walls of the base structure (1). The structural shape and geometry of the arrangement implies that the size of the diameter of the tower foot (5) can be chosen independently of the size of the base.

  • Patent number: 4743141
Abstract: Method of constructing an offshore truss work type tower structure, and a tower structure comprising outer legs and leg connecting trusses, where all legs being parallel, trusses between outer legs and trusses arranged inwardly from outer legs, being diagonally arranged, one or more internal leg or legs being arranged in equidistant adjacent outer legs, all trusses from and between outer legs being arranged diagonally and secured to the legs by welding to forged nodal points whereby each nodal point on an outer leg being arranged at a level intermediate two nodal point levels on adjacent legs.

  • Patent number: 4446804
Abstract: The transportation of oil and gas under high pressure in tanks on board a ship is carried out by loading and unloading the oil/gas utilizing a suitable pressurized liquid, for example water, in the individual tanks, whereby during loading, a tank or a group of tanks containing pressurized liquid are filled with oil and gas while the pressurized liquid simultaneously is displaced into the next tank or group of tanks which are to be filled, after which the said next tank/group of tanks are filled and the pressurized liquid displaced into a third tank/group of tanks, etc., and that during unloading, the cargo in one tank or one group of tanks is removed by introducing a pressurized liquid into the tank/group of tanks, and unloading of the cargo in the next tank/group of tanks occurs by transferring the pressurized liquid from the said first tank/group of tanks to the next.

  • Patent number: 4290759
Abstract: A training apparatus by which situations liable to occur during drilling for oil and gas, such as a blow out, may be simulated to teach better control thereof. The apparatus comprises a miniature drilling rig, a transparent bore hole casing imitation and a pressurized oil/gas reservoir imitation sealed from the casing by an easily through-drilled plug in the lower end of the casing.
