Patent number: 7141960Abstract: The method is for testing an electrical component. The sender unit 12 may be applied to an electrical plug 24 that has a first line 28, a second line 32 and a ground line 36. It is determined which of the lines 28, 32, 36 that has a voltage potential relative to the surrounding. The phase configuration of the electrical plug 24 may be determined. The unit 14 is applied to a remote electrical unit and the sender sends a synchronization signal 41 to the receiver unit 14 that starts a counter providing a measurement of the time difference between corresponding phase positions of the alternating current of the plug 24 and that of the remote electrical unit. This time difference can then be converted to a phase difference value. The system may also be used to identify a specific fuse that is associated with the plug and for testing ground fault interrupting devices.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2005Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Sagab Electronic ABInventor: Lars Mats Jan Bystrom

Patent number: 6531878Abstract: The receiver has a casing member and a tip is removably attached to the casing member. A transmitter is connected to a battery and the transmitter produces a transmitter signal by periodically connecting a resistance to the battery. Preferably, the transmitter signal has a frequency of about 20 kHz. A sensor may be placed adjacent to, but not in contact with, an electrically conductive member to take advantage of the air capacitance. An electrical field is created between the sensor and the electrically conductive member. Due to the periodical load on the battery, the sensor may sense the transmitter, signal in the DC carrying conductive member. The transmitter signal is passed through an integrated circuit to filter out all frequencies except the desired 20 kHz and a detection signal is sent to the indicator to activate the indicator.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1999Date of Patent: March 11, 2003Assignee: Sagab Electronic ABInventors: Lars Mats Jan Bystrom, Carl Gunnar Klingberg

Patent number: 6424139Abstract: The voltage detection stick comprises an elongate and hollow casing member. A tip is attached to the casing member and has a first leg and a second leg protruding outwardly from the tip. A cavity is defined between the legs. An antenna is disposed within the casing member for sensing a voltage and transmitting a detection signal when an electrically conductive member is disposed in the cavity. An antenna extension is removably attachable within the cavity for increasing the sensitivity of the antenna.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2000Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Assignee: Sagab Electronic ABInventors: Lars Mats Jan Bystrom, Gunnar Carl Klingberg

Patent number: 6242903Abstract: The voltage detection stick comprises an elongate and hollow casing member that has a front and a back. A tip is rotatably and removably attached to the front of the casing member and a sensor is disposed within the casing member for sensing the presence of a voltage when the sensor is positioned adjacent an electrically conductive member. The casing member has an indicator and an integrated circuit entirely disposed within the casing member for receiving a signal from the sensor and transmitting the signal to the indicator. A power source is disposed within the casing member for powering the sensor, the integrated circuit and the indicator.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1999Date of Patent: June 5, 2001Assignee: Sagab Electronic ABInventors: Gunnar Carl Klingberg, Dave Cook
