Abstract: The present subject matter relates to automated gemstone feeding in a gemstone processing machine. In an implementation, the gemstone processing machine has a feeding conduit unit to receive a rough gemstone affixed to a holder from a user. The feeding conduit unit delivers the holder to a base plate. An actuating arm picks the holder from the base plate and transfers the holder to a pre-defined position in the gemstone processing machine. The automated feeding mechanism is controlled by the computing device and uses low-cost hardware equipment having limited or no manual intervention. Thus, providing an apt tradeoff between the accuracy of transfer of the rough gemstone and the cost associated with the equipment used for the processing of the gemstone.

Abstract: Examples of automated gemstone feeding are described. According to an example, a gemstone feeding machine includes a conveyor belt assembly to feed holders carrying gemstones. The conveyor belt assembly can include a plurality of conveyor belts in two sets positioned parallel to each other and the two sets can move in opposite directions. Each belt in one set can be positioned alternately with respect to each belt in the other set. The assembly can include a fixed guiding plate at a first end of the conveyor belts and a detachable guiding plate adjacent to the loading assembly at a second end of the conveyor belts. The fixed guiding plate and the detachable guiding plate each comprises a plurality of transition profiles in alignment with immediately adjacent conveyor belts.

Abstract: Examples of gemstone verification are described herein. In one example, for processing a gemstone, pre-stored marking coordinates associated with a gemstone ID are obtained, the pre-stored marking coordinates generated during planning phase of the processing. Further, real-time marking coordinates for the gemstone to be processed are also obtained. An identity of the gemstone is verified based on a comparison of the pre-stored marking coordinates with the real-time marking coordinates. Further, information, including cutting parameters, associated with the gemstone ID of the gemstone is retrieved in response to a valid verification of the identity of the gemstone, for processing the gemstone.

Abstract: Aspects relating to gemstone profiling are described. A gemstone profiling system includes a holder that is rotatable by an actuator and can hold a gemstone, the gemstone having a reference mark. The system includes a non-contact measuring unit to determine a distance between a center of rotation of the gemstone and a surface of the gemstone. Further, the system includes a controller to rotate the gemstone through a plurality of orientations and receive the measured distance between a center of rotation of the gemstone and a surface of the gemstone in each of the plurality of orientations of the gemstone. The controller can generate a profile of the gemstone based on the received distance in the plurality of orientations.

Abstract: The present subject matter relates to an indexing unit for a gemstone processing machine. The indexing unit may include a base plate that may comprise a plurality of plates. Further, the base plate may be coupled to an indexing mechanism such that the indexing mechanism may impart rotational, translational, and tilting motion to the base plate. Further, the plurality of plates may include axially extending concentric holes in which a plurality of holders may be disposed. Further, the plurality of holes may hold the gemstone for processing. In one implementation, the plurality of holders may be coupled to one or more actuating mechanisms that may impart rotational, translational, and tilting motion to the individual holders.

Abstract: Systems and methods for mobile gemstone identification are described herein. According to an embodiment, a mobile gemstone identification system (100) includes a gemstone holder (104, 202, 302, 402) to hold a gemstone (102) and includes an optoelectronic assembly (106). The optoelectronic assembly (106) includes an illumination device (108) to illuminate the gemstone (102) by causing radiations to be incident on the gemstone (102). Further, the optoelectronic assembly (106) further includes a screen (110) to form a pattern indicative of an optical response of the gemstone (102), in response to the radiations being incident on the gemstone (102). According to an aspect, the screen (110) is formed as having a plurality of regions (114, 116) having different masses, and the pattern is to be formed substantially on a region (114) having greater mass than other regions (116).

Abstract: Systems and methods for gemstone processing are described herein. According to an embodiment, a gemstone processing system includes a visualization system (100) for capturing stresses in a rough gemstone (104). The visualization system (100) can include an image capturing device (102), a gemstone stage (106) being rotatable with respect to the image capturing device (102), and one or more light sources (110, 112) to illuminate the rough gemstone (104) on the gemstone stage (106).

Abstract: A drug coating apparatus (100) for coating an implant (206) with a drug is described. The drug coating apparatus (100) includes a holding unit (102) having a top collet (202-1) for holding the implant (206) from a top end of the implant (206), and a bottom collet (202-2) to hold the implant (206) from a bottom end of the implant (206).
