  • Patent number: 6499363
Abstract: A nozzle 33 is formed on a distal end side of a cylinder 3. The nozzle 33 has an intermediate portion 3b formed such that a tip 7 is freely attachable thereto and detachable therefrom. The intermediate portion 3b of the nozzle 33 is formed with an annular projection 3e for retaining the tip 7. The tip 7 has a thick portion 7a provided in a root portion thereof and formed larger in diameter than a root portion 3a of the nozzle 33 to be abuttable against a tip releasing member 11. Along an inner periphery of the root portion of the tip 7, an annular projection 7b is formed to contact with the annular projection 3e of the nozzle 33 thereby providing a seal with the nozzle 33. Both the annular projections 3e and 7b of the nozzle 33 and the tip 7 are arranged to reach a position where a sound of abutment is produced between the root end surface of the tip 7 and the shoulder of the nozzle 33 at the completion of fitting of the tip 7 onto the nozzle 33.

  • Patent number: 5542771
Abstract: An applicator in which the air within an inner barrel of a cap to the applicator is enabled to flow readily into the fluid tank of the applicator to increase the internal pressure of the fluid tank when the cap is engaged with the neck of the applicator, so that the fluid tank of the applicator need not be pressed between the fingers of a user for application of a highly viscous fluid. The inner barrel of the cap includes a curved, elastically deformable valve-opening member made of a highly flexible material bearing against the closed end of the cap. When the cap is engaged with the body of the applicator, the valve-opening member abuts against an application member to retract the application member from a caulked front edge of the tip of the applicator so as to form a clearance between the application member and the caulked front edge of the tip through which air can readily flow to increase the internal pressure of the fluid tank.

  • Patent number: 5462379
Abstract: An inexpensive applicator in which the air within the inner barrel of a cap enters the fluid tank of the applicator to increase the internal pressure thereof in the process where the cap is engaged with the neck of the applicator, so that the fluid tank need not be pressed between the fingers for application of the fluid to be applied, the cap having in the inner barrel thereof a cylindrical valve member made of a highly flexible material and provided with a diaphragm or with a diaphragm having a ball-like portion formed thereon, and the application member being designed to be retracted and spaced from the caulked front edge of the tip when the application member is abutted against the diaphragm or the ball-like portion of the valve member in the process where the cap is engaged with the body of the applicator, whereas the elastically deformed diaphragm or the ball-like portion of the valve member is designed to close the front end opening of the tip when the cap is fully engaged with the neck.

  • Patent number: 5421664
Abstract: A fluid applicator in which the internal pressure of a fluid tank can selectively be increased, and the fluid to be applied is prevented from being discharged excessively during application. A cap is provided with a short first inner barrel and a long second inner barrel, so that, when the neck of the applicator is inserted into the short first inner barrel to seal the tip, the pressure rise in the first inner barrel is adapted to be small so as not to substantially increase the internal pressure of the fluid tank, whereas when the neck is inserted into the long second inner barrel, the pressure rise in the second inner barrel is adapted to be great so as to increase the internal pressure of the fluid tank. Alternatively, the applicator may be provided with a pressurizing device having a plurality of sealing barrels of different lengths.

  • Patent number: 4976560
Abstract: A mechanical pencil with a chuck made of plastics includes a lead case connected with the chuck, a ring arranged to surround and hold the chuck, and a spring for biasing the chuck toward a position where it is engaged with the ring, all of which are disposed within a tubular housing. The plastic chuck includes a cylindrical tube connected with the lead case and three elastically deformable extensions integral therewith. Each of these extensions has an engaging portion for grasping a lead and a connecting portion whose inner surface axially forms a curve of secondary degree extending from the cylindrical tube and expanding radially toward the engaging portion in its free state, so that the engaging portion aligns with the lead when it is engaged with the ring. Accordingly, a grasping force is uniformly applied around the lead.
