Abstract: An electrically heated rear screen including a window formed of laminated glass layers separated by a thermoplastic interlayer and having electrical connection elements provided at opposed lateral edges of the window. Plural parallel connected horizontally extending resistive heating wires are embedded in the thermoplastic interlayer. The resistive heating wires are formed as meandering loops having an odd number of loop segments extending across the width of the window. At the opposed lateral edges of the window, the resistive heating wires have opposed end segments which follow a path along the corresponding lateral edges of the rear screen a short distance apart to a respective common electrical connection element.

Abstract: Glass sheets are bent in stages into the final shape in a horizontal position in two successive bending stations. The glass sheets heated to bending temperature are laid on a fabric carrier arranged resiliently on a rigid support frame. The glass sheets are conveyed stepwise with the fabric carrier and the support frame through the bending system, and are bent together with the fabric carrier which adapts to the shape of the glass sheets.

Abstract: A method of handling articles in which at least one mechanical tool conveys the article or plays a part in transferring the article, and according to which at least one jet of gas under pressure is blown through a duct passing through the mechanical tool, and also according to which the article is held in position on the mechanical tool while limiting contact therewith, by means of the said jet of gas.
Abstract: An optical polishing slurry with alumina and ceria components is found to produce an improved polishing performance over either component used alone.
Abstract: The production of mineral fibers by centrifuging on rollers (3, 4, 5, 6) with horizontal axes from a stream (1) of molten material includes determining the relative position of the stream (1) of molten material in relation to the first roller (3), and controlling this position by use of CCD cameras (8, 11, 40). A camera (11) observes the periphery of a fiber-drawing roller (4).

The cuproaluminum alloy is one of a composition comprising 5 to 15% wt. Al, 2 to 7% wt. Ni, 2 to 7% wt. Fe, 0.05 to 1.5% wt. Si, 0.02% to 2% wt. Mn, and at most 0.25% wt. Zn, with the remainder comprising Cu; or a composition comprising 12 to 18% wt. Ni, 1% wt. or less Fe, 0.05 to 1.5% wt. Si, 0.5% to 2% wt. Mn, and 6 to 12% wt. Zn, with the remainder comprising Cu.
Abstract: The present invention furnishes a device for fiberizing molten mineral materials in order to produce mineral fiber products by means of a spinner (2) having a multiplicity of orifices (6; 8) provided in the peripheral wall (4) thereof, for centrifuging molten mineral materials (10; 12) supplied to the spinner (2), with the spinner (2) comprising on the inside (14) of the peripheral wall (4) compartments (18; 20) arranged in sections and delimited by baffles (16) for separately feeding and separately receiving a respective molten material (10; 12) to at least one associated orifice (6; 8), with the orifices (6; 8) extending at least approximately in a radial direction through the peripheral wall (4). Abstract: The forming surface of a forming mold (5) for postforming of a shaped cord (2) in the shape of a frame extruded onto a glass (1) is slightly curved in the direction of the length of shaped cord (2). In the final position of forming mold (4) during the postforming operation, lateral edges (11, 12) are thus slightly above the surface of shaped cord (2). This avoids the creation of imprints in the form of lines or edges on the shaped cord, and a smooth transition is achieved between the postformed length of the shaped cord that attaches there.
