Abstract: A folding knife includes a handle having a pivot axis, a blade attached to the handle, a movable member that moves about the pivot axis, an urging spring, and a switching mechanism. The movable member has an engaging claw. When the blade is in a folded position, the switching mechanism holds the movable member in a disengaged state, in which the engaging claw is disengaged from an engaging portion of the blade. When the blade moves from the folded position to the switching position, the switching mechanism switches the movable member from the disengaged state to an engaged state, in which the engaging claw is engaged with the engaging portion, thereby moving the movable member in the open direction by the urging spring to move the blade from the switching position toward the open position by the movable member.

Abstract: Retractable scissors include a holder and a scissor piece mounted on the holder. The scissor piece is rotational with respect to the holder among a closed position, at which the scissor piece is retracted in the holder, a first open position, at which the scissor piece is open with respect to the holder at an acute angle, and a second open position, at which the scissor piece is open with respect to the holder wider than at the first open position. The scissor piece includes a first edge, and the holder includes a second edge that intersects and contacts the first edge. When the scissor piece is rotated with respect to the holder from the first open position toward the closed position, the scissor piece and the holder cooperate to function as a pair of scissors that cuts an object between the first and second edges. When the scissor piece is located at the second open position, the scissor piece functions as a blade of a knife, and the holder functions as a handle of the knife.

The cam surface has a substantially arcuate guiding portion and an engagement portion that is formed continuously from one end of the guiding portion. The handle has a blade locking mechanism. The locking mechanism includes a slider and a coil spring that biases the slider. The slider is movable along the longitudinal direction of the handle between a lock position, at which the slider is engaged with the engagement portion, and an unlock position, at which the slider is separate from the engagement portion. The slider has a pressing portion that is engaged with the blade when the blade is arranged at the folded position. By moving the slider in the direction from the lock position toward the unlock position when the blade is at the folded position, the pressing portion presses the blade out of the folded position toward the open position.

Abstract: A folding knife has a handle, as well as, a first blade and a second blade, which are rotatably supported by the handle. When the first blade is located in the fold-out position and the second blade is located in the fold-in position, the first blade functions as a knife. When both the first blade and the second blade are located in the fold-out positions, the first blade and the second blade cooperate with each other so as to function as a pair of scissors. The folding knife provided merely with a pair of blades can function not only as a knife but also as a pair of scissors in spite of its simple structure. Thus, the folding knife is reduced in number of parts and is simplified in structure.

Abstract: A folding knife includes a handle and a blade pivotally supported on the handle. A tang of the blade includes a cam surface. The cam surface has a substantially arcuate guiding portion and an engaging portion that extends continuously from one end of the guiding portion. A notch formed on an upper edge of the handle is provided with a lock mechanism. The lock mechanism includes a guide member, which is fixed to the handle in the notch, a hollow lock tube, which is supported on the guide member, and a coil spring, which is accommodated in the lock tube. The lock tube is movable along the longitudinal direction of the handle between a lock position for engaging the engaging portion and an unlock position separated from the engaging portion. When the blade is in the open position, the coil spring moves the lock tube toward the lock position. Thus, the blade is securely locked in the open position.

Abstract: An improved holder and pocketknife combination is disclosed. The knife has a blade and a handle. The handle has an end detachably coupled to a swivel that is rotatably connected to a snap hook. The handle has a coupling part for mating with a cooperating part of the holder. The combination also has a quick release mechanism for separating the knife from the holder. The hook is directly attached to the swivel.

Abstract: A knife is provided having a blade, foldably supported by a handle, and a hook for fastening the knife onto another object apart from the knife. A pair of brackets are integrally and flexibly formed with the handle to pivotably attach the base of the hook to the handle. The brackets are given flexibility as a result of being resin-molded integrally with the handle. The hook has a base which is directly attached to the brackets, and a body which is hooked onto an object. Both brackets have a pair of bearing holes lying on the same axis. The base of the hook also has a pair of support shafts which are rotatably fit into both the bearing holes. The hook can then be pivotably attached to both brackets by fitting both support shafts into both bearing holes.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a holder for audio cassette recording tapes which is designed to provide convenient and compact storage for a plurality of cassette tapes and to also enable easy retrieval of same for the purpose of playing same. The cassette holder may be sized to accommodate any desired number of cassettes and includes a plurality of side by side channels into which the cassettes may be easily slid and thereafter supported. A latching member is associated with each of the channels and operates to lock the cassette within. In order to facilitate removal of a cassette from the holder each channel has associated therewith a spring loaded grasping member which upon release of the latching member moves the cassette partially outwardly of the holder whereby an individual may easily grasp and remove the cassette from the holder. In order to prevent inadvertent complete ejection of the cassette, the grasping member also includes arms frictionally engageable with the cassette.
