  • Patent number: 4809609
Abstract: A printing plate is directly mounted on a plate cylinder by first placing small holes in the non-image area of the printing plate on register holes in the plate cylinder and by then inserting register pins through the small holes and into the register holes so that the two holes are brought into complete registry with each other. Remounting a removed printing plate at the same position on the cylinder at which it was mounted before may be readily performed by relying on X-Y coordinates of the previous position for finding the corresponding register holes and then by reperforming the method as described above. This will result in a considerable reduction in the manpower required for the plate mounting operation and in the subsequent work to bring the plate into accurate registry with the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4808443
Abstract: An aqueous overcoating composition which is able to adhere strongly to an oil-based ink printed on a sheet, enhances the film properties of the oil-based ink as to, for example, gloss, rub resistance and the like, prevents offset and blocking occurring at the time of stacking and the like after printing, and strikingly improves setting and drying of the oil-based ink so that it is possible to start the ensuing work of the after-treatments of printed matter. The composition is coated in a thin film on a wet sheet surface just printed with an oil-based ink, on a printing press or in a printing operation.

  • Patent number: 4769717
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an image reproduction apparatus for reproducing images through laser beam scanning using galvano mirrors. The apparatus includes a memory device which stores an image signal in an image signal memory in accordance with a grid clock signal; a reading/processing/writing device which reads the image signal from the image signal memory, performs image processing, and writes the processed image signal into a processed image signal memory in accordance with the clock signal from another clock generator; and a reading device which reads the processed image signal from the processed image signal memory in accordance with the grid clock signal. The image signal picked up through the scanning of the laser beam is deflected by the galvano mirrors and is first amplified and processed as needed, and then it is converted to the digital signal by an A/D converter, and the digital signal is stored in the image signal memory device in accordance with the grid clock signal.

  • Patent number: 4623008
Abstract: A system for automatically dispensing stock solutions is disclosed, comprising a dispenser, pipette keeping and washing units and a control unit. The respective pipette keeping and washing units have different types of pipettes. First, the control unit selects the most appropriate pipette according to the type and amount of mixture of stock solutions to be prepared. The dispenser then receives the selected pipette from the corresponding pipette keeping and washing unit and is detachably fitted with the appropriate pipette to feed a predetermined amount of stock solution into a receptacle by manipulating the pipette. Having finished dispensing, the dispenser transfers the used pipette back to the corresponding pipette keeping and washing unit. On completion of the transfer, the control unit causes the pipette keeping and washing unit to wash the transferred pipette.

  • Patent number: 4474473
Abstract: Pigment dispersion is manufactured by continuously flushing pigment press-cake. First and second troughs supply hydrophobic liquid organic media and the pigment wet-cake respectively at a constant rate to a twin screw co-rotating extruder having a L/D (length/diameter) value of 25 or more. The twin screw co-rotating extruder includes a feeding part where the hydrophobic liquid organic media and the pigment wet-cake are fed from the first and second troughs, a flushing part for flushing the pigment particles from water phase to form an organic medium phase, and a dehydrating part for removing water from the flushed mixture. The hydrophobic liquid organic media and the pigment wet-cake are fed to the twin screw co-rotating extruder, and the pigment press-cake is flushed and dehydrated continuously in the extruder to obtain the pigment dispersion.
