Abstract: A wound dressing for use in first aid is described comprising a bandage to which is secured, by two parallel seams, a compress. The compress has flaps which can be folded over the region between the two seams, or which can be opened out. An open mouthed pocket is defined between the two seams which can accommodate a rigid body, such as a rolled bandage, to enable the wound dressing to be utilised to staunch a flow of blood. With the rolled bandage removed from the pocket and the flaps opened out, the wound dressing may be utilised to dress a large wound, such as a burn.

Abstract: A package is disclosed for use in containing moisture containing refreshers, or other moisture containing material. The package is formed of a sheet material which embraces the moist material and defines a re-sealable flap extending from the package which defines the package opening. Initially the package is hermetically sealed.

Abstract: A storage receptacle for a multiple adhesive bandage pack includes front and rear walls joined at their lower extremities and defining a trough-shaped compartment therebetween. A flange element is carried by the front wall and extends inwardly therefrom a sufficient distance to overlie at least the front wall of a multiple adhesive bandage pack which is stored within the compartment so as to prevent removal of the pack from the compartment. A plurality of apertures are formed in the front wall of the receptacle to extend therethrough below the flange element. A key member is given a set of studs corresponding in number and arrangement to the number and arrangement of the apertures in the front wall of the receptacle. The studs are insertable through the apertures to thereby engage the front wall of the pack and cause the pack to shift so that the front wall thereof moves from beneath the flange element to thereby permit removal of the pack from the storage receptacle.

The box is provided in its upper surface with an opening, which normally is closed by a tongue-shaped sealing member being attached to one end of the upper surface of the box and having such length and breadth that a substantially moisture-tight seal is provided.

Abstract: The invention relates to pressure sensitive adhesive compositions to be used in contact with the skin without causing contact eczema and allergies. Such a composition comprises an acrylic ester adhesive, at least one cross-linking agent such as tetrahydro-4H-1,3,5-oxadiazine-4-one or 5-alkyl-tetrahydro-s-triazine-2(1H)-one or -thione of the type specified below, and a catalyst.

Abstract: An expendable electrode for electro-cardiographs comprising a thin metallic carrier member coated on the surface to be applied to the skin with an adhesive and having a plurality of metallic contact spikes projecting from the coated surface which spikes are devised to penetrate into the skin. The coated and spiked surface is covered by at least one pull-off foil protecting same together with the spikes against environmental influences. On the carrier member, a transverse upwardly directed flange is provided for attachment to an electrocardiographic apparatus. A method of manufacturing the expandable electrode according to the invention is also disclosed.

Abstract: A device in the form of a sleeve for facilitating the insertion of a tampon into the vagina. The string of the tampon is received in a slit at one end of the sleeve, said slit defining a cylindrical portion which functions as a support for the tampon when the tampon has been partially moved out of the sleeve.
