  • Patent number: 10054443
Abstract: The various technologies presented herein relate to determining a location of an individual, or an object, when a GPS may be unavailable/occluded. Readings from a plurality of sensors on a mobile device can be generating a plurality of data (e.g., speed, motion, temperature, biometric, etc.) which can be combined to generate a probability of a user of the mobile device being at a particular location, or not. Sensor readings can be weighted to enable sensors having a large effect on a degree of confidence of the probability of the user being determined to be at a location being given priority (e.g., battery priority) versus those sensors which have lesser effect on the degree of confidence. With the user determined to be at a location, information, a notification, an instruction, etc., can be presented to the user, via the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 10057521
Abstract: A high-speed CMOS camera includes an array of pixel circuits coupled to a photodiode array, an oscillator circuit, and a pattern generator circuit. The pattern generator circuit includes a high speed shift register and a non-overlap generator. The shift register is programmable to produce a pulse train of trigger pulses that defines an interframe and a frame's shutter duration. The non-overlap generator deserializes the incoming pulse train of trigger pulses, and it produces a time-separated reset pulse based on the pulse train of trigger pulses. The shift register is configured to permit the frame durations and the interframe times to be selected arbitrarily over specified ranges in increments of a basic time unit that depends on the oscillator period.

  • Patent number: 10042048
Abstract: Various embodiments presented herein relate to assigning labels to segments of a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image, where the segments are based upon a speckle-reduced SAR image product. A plurality of SAR images of a scene are co-registered to form a registered stack of SAR images. A speckle-reduced SAR image product is generated based upon at least one registered SAR image in the registered stack of SAR images. The speckle-reduced SAR image product is segmented into a plurality of superpixels, and boundaries of the superpixels are applied to the at least one registered SAR image to form a segmented SAR image. A segment of the SAR image is then labeled as including or not including a feature, wherein the label is assigned based upon values of pixels in the segment.

  • Patent number: 10042960
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for identifying a track for a target are disclosed herein. In a general embodiment, trees for targets are identified. Each tree in the trees includes observations that are connected to each other by branches and each observation has a score. A selected track in a tree is identified within the trees with an observation having a highest score. A group of branches is added to the selected track from other trees other than the tree having the selected track to form the track for a target, enabling reducing processing resources used to identify the track.

  • Patent number: 10037203
Abstract: The various technologies presented herein relate to upgrading industrial control software in real-time. During utilization of a first software to control an industrial process, a determination can be made that the first software needs to be replaced (e.g., partially or entirely) owing to a newer version of software is ready to be deployed, a vulnerability in the first software has been determined, etc. Rather than closing the industrial process down while the first software is replaced, a second software can be deployed such that the first software and the second software are operating in parallel (e.g., receiving the same operational data, process states). When a critical point (upgrade location) in the first software has been reached, control of the industrial process can be switched to the second software, thereby enabling control of the industrial process to occur without having to temporarily cease operation and/or monitoring of the industrial process.

  • Patent number: 10032285
Abstract: A method and apparatus for analyzing a sequence of images. Signal-to-noise ratios are identified for potential tracks using a tree having hierarchies of nodes identifying potential positions for an object over a period of time and using the sequence of images. Each hierarchy in the hierarchies of nodes represents a time and the potential positions in the tree form the potential tracks for the object. A potential track is selected from the potential tracks as an established track for the object using the signal-to-noise ratios, and a detection of the object is reported.

  • Patent number: 10031135
Abstract: Viruses and other bioagents are of high medical and biodefense concern and their detection at concentrations well below the threshold necessary to cause health hazards continues to be a challenge with respect to sensitivity, specificity, and selectivity. Ideally, assays for accurate and real time detection of viral agents and other bioagents would not necessitate any pre-processing of the analyte, which would make them applicable for example to bodily fluids (blood, sputum) and man-made as well as naturally occurring bodies of water (pools, rivers). We describe herein a robust biosensor that combines the sensitivity of surface acoustic waves (SAW) generated at a frequency of 325 MHz with the specificity provided by antibodies and other ligands for the detection of viral agents.

  • Patent number: 10024983
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of several new metal-loaded plastic scintillators are reported herein, comprising sterically and electronically isolated organotin additive complexes. Distance-dependent quenching relationships have been used as design criteria for the selection and synthesis of these organometallic additives, resulting in increased light yields and improved gamma-ray energy resolution values relative to previously reported PS/PVT examples. Fast scintillation decay properties have also been characterized in the prepared scintillators, rivaling the kinetics of stilbene-doped bibenzyl and BC-422Q-1% while providing higher light yields than these reference materials.

  • Patent number: 10025123
Abstract: The various technologies presented herein relate to various hybrid phononic-photonic waveguide structures that can exhibit nonlinear behavior associated with traveling-wave forward stimulated Brillouin scattering (forward-SBS). The various structures can simultaneously guide photons and phonons in a suspended membrane. By utilizing a suspended membrane, a substrate pathway can be eliminated for loss of phonons that suppresses SBS in conventional silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguides. Consequently, forward-SBS nonlinear susceptibilities are achievable at about 3000 times greater than achievable with a conventional waveguide system. Owing to the strong phonon-photon coupling achievable with the various embodiments, potential application for the various embodiments presented herein cover a range of radiofrequency (RF) and photonic signal processing applications. Further, the various embodiments presented herein are applicable to applications operating over a wide bandwidth, e.g. 100 MHz to 50 GHz or more.
