Publication number: 20240399735Abstract: A sleeve assembly in which a pair of annular end rings are screwed into respective ends of an annular sleeve which includes around its inner surface a compressible liner. Respective surfaces of both end ring and sleeve are provided with specific complementary groove, chamfer, undercut or channel formations, and prior to screwing insertion of an end ring into a sleeve end, respective surfaces and formations are filled and covered with a viscous but fluent curable gasket forming composition such that amounts of gasket forming composition provided on and continuously around the end ring unite with corresponding amounts of gasket forming composition provided within and completely around corresponding surfaces of the sleeve as and when the end ring is completely screwed into a sleeve end. When the respective amounts of gasket forming composition provided on end ring and sleeve unite together and cure, effective rib or band-like rubberized seals are created.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2022Publication date: December 5, 2024Applicant: Sandon Global Engraving Technology LimitedInventor: Gary Carmichael

Patent number: 12005696Abstract: A lightweight interchangeable magnetic sleeve and method of manufacture thereof are disclosed. The sleeve assembly comprises an annular tube in the exterior surface having recesses filled with comparatively rigid magnetic means which are firmly adhered therein. The sleeve assembly includes a tubular radially compressible liner component, relatively slightly shorter than the tube, and bonded inside and substantially axially centrally within the tube thus leaving interior cylindrical end regions of the tube exposed beyond the annular end surfaces of said liner. The remaining exposed interior cylindrical surfaces of the tube are rebated back from the liner exposing annular shoulders within the tube. The rebates are tapped so that correspondingly sized threaded end rings of a more structurally robust, rigid and resilient material than the tube material, can be fitted into the tube ends and tightened against the annular shoulders created by the rebating, placing the entire sleeve assembly under slight compression.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2023Date of Patent: June 11, 2024Assignee: Sandon Global Engraving Technology LimitedInventor: Gary Carmichael

Patent number: 11059284Abstract: A substantially tubular interchangeable sleeve is adapted for applying a printing or coating liquid to a substrate material or offset roller. The sleeve has a multi-layer construction primarily consisting of a first outer layer of a dimensionally stable substantially fluid-impregnable solid material, such as aluminum or steel, around the exterior surface of which is affixed or applied a print or coating liquid receiving plate or layer. The sleeve further comprises one or more further interior layers of relatively less dimensionally stable, compressible, usually fibrous materials disposed inwardly of the interior surface of the first layer which, under air pressure, can be compressed so as to enlarge the inner dimensions of the sleeve so that it can be slid over a suitable bridge mandrel. The sleeve further comprises at least one end ring of a dimensionally stable substantially fluid-impregnable solid material.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2016Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: Sandon Global Engraving Technology LimitedInventor: Nigel Hedges

Patent number: 10994565Abstract: An article with an operative liquid-bearing surface is adapted for transferring that liquid to a substrate material or printing plate. The entire operative surface of the article is provided with a pattern of microscopic discrete depressions which are usually laser-engraved into the surface so that a substantially continuous wall structure remains which surrounds and defines the depressions. In particular the depressions are of a cross-sectional shape which is symmetrical about one or both of a lateral and a medial axis perpendicular thereto, and arranged adjacent one another in offset fashion, and above and below one another so that the pattern thus formed is substantially uniform and repeating. Each of at least one of the pairs of lateral or medial sidewalls of any one depression are contoured, the contour of one of the pair being generally the mirror image of the other.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2017Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: SANDON GLOBAL ENGRAVING TECHNOLOGY LIMITEDInventor: Gary Carmichael

Patent number: 10987963Abstract: A printing plate includes a plurality of relief areas which stand proud of a floor of the plate, each of the relief areas having an uppermost surface to which, in use, is applied a liquid which is borne by the uppermost surface and subsequently contactingly transferred to a substrate material. A predetermined pattern of depressions define a corresponding pattern of islands within the uppermost surface. The depressions within the uppermost surface include at least primary depressions of a first size and substantially geometric first cross-sectional shape, and secondary depressions, being of smaller cross-sectional area than the primary depressions and having a second cross-sectional shape which is distinctly more elongate than the first cross-sectional shape.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2017Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignees: SANDON GLOBAL ENGRAVING TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, REPROFLEX3 LIMITEDInventor: Trevor Lowes
