Abstract: A coated high strength stainless steel strip product with a dense and evenly distributed metallic layer on one side or both sides of said strip is provided. Said layer consists of essentially pure gold, copper, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, silver, tin or tungsten or alloys of at least 2 of these metals, the thickness of said layer is preferably maximally 15 ?m, the tolerance of said layer is maximally +/?30% of the layer thickness, the Cr content of the steel strip substrate is at least 10%, and that the layer has such a good adhesion so that the coated steel strip can be uniaxially stretched to fracture by tensile testing without showing any tendency to peeling, flaking or the like. The metal-coated strip product is suitable for use in applications that are load carrying and is able to transfer electrical currents to a contacting surface without an electrical conductivity drop at the interface between the surfaces.

Said layer consists of essentially pure aluminum, the thickness of said layer is maximally 15 ?m, the tolerance of said layer is maximally +/?30% of the layer thickness, the Cr content of the steel strip substrate is at least 10%, and that the layer has such a good adhesion so that the coated steel strip can be bent 180° over a radius maximally equal to the thickness of said strip without showing any tendency to flaking or the like. The Al-coated strip product is suitable for applications in environments with high humidity or in wet conditions, such as outdoor life applications, sports and sea-life, household and personal care.
Abstract: A hollow sleeve is mounted in a hole of a holder block to receive a rotary cutter bit. The sleeve includes a front flange and a shank extending rearwardly from the front flange and defining a longitudinal axis. The shank includes an outer periphery having a radially stepped configuration, wherein an outer surface of the shank includes a plurality of axially adjacent surface sections that become successively smaller in cross-section in a direction away from the flange. Each surface section occupies one-third of the hole length. Each surface section has longitudinally spaced front and rear ends, wherein a portion of each surface section situated between its front and rear ends is spaced farther from the axis than are the front and rear ends. Each surface section has a generally longitudinally extending groove formed therein.
Abstract: A coated product is disclosed consisting of a metallic substrate and a coating of a MAX material type. Furthermore, a method of producing such a coated product is disclosed using vapor deposition technique in a continuous roll to roll process.
Abstract: A new method and apparatus for manufacturing powders of cemented carbide, cermets, ceramics and similar materials with good abrasive wear resistance starting from a slurry, wherein the slurry is introduced into a drop forming device including at least one essentially horizontal oriented rotating drop forming disk (12), from which the drops are slung out to solidify by centrifugal force.

Abstract: A cutting insert comprises first and second polygonally-shaped main faces arranged substantially parallel to one another, and a side face structure interconnecting the first and second main faces to define a peripheral edge. At least the first main face includes at least one projection extending to the peripheral edge, the projection formed by: a portion of the first main surface (defining a relief surface), a portion of the side face structure (defining a rake surface), and a portion of the peripheral edge (defining a cutting edge). The insert includes support surfaces defined by a portion of the second main face, and by portions of the side surface structure other than the rake surface.
Abstract: A method of producing a heating element made from molybdenum silicide and alloys thereof, and which includes aluminum oxide on its surface. A material is produced that contains substantially Mo(Si1-xAlx)2 and Al2O3 by mixing a mixture of a silicon and molybdenum compound with an aluminum compound. Either of the silicon and molybdenum compounds include Mo(Si1-yAly)2 and are mixed with one or both of an aluminum compound in the form of Al2O3 or Al(OH)3 and optionally the compounds SiO2, Si, and MoO3, or by virtue of the mixture of the silicon and molybdenum compound containing MoO3 and Al and Si and/or SiO2. The input components together have a degree of purity corresponding to at least 98%. The mixture reacts exothermically and/or by being sintered, so that exchange reactions take place to form the compounds Mo(Si1-xAlx)2 and Al2O3, where x lies in the range of 0.4–0.6.
Abstract: A tool holder simultaneously carries at least two diametrically arranged tool heads, each tool head carrying cutting inserts for chip removing machining. The tool holder includes an adaptor connected to a coupling. The adaptor has at least two diametrically opposite side surfaces which-diverge away from the coupling. The side surfaces have seats in order to replaceably receive respective tool heads. A line which lies in both a first basal plane and in one of the side surfaces forms an angle in the interval 1°–15° with a longitudinal center line of the tool holder.
Abstract: A holder block is mounted on a carrier and has formed therein a first hole and a water passage. A sleeve is mounted in the first hole and receives a cutter bit. The sleeve includes a shank and an enlarged flange disposed at a front end thereof. The shank is disposed in the first hole. The flange includes a rearwardly facing shoulder bearing against an outer surface of the block. A second hole extends through the shank and the flange and is adapted to receive the cutter bit. A spray nozzle is disposed in the flange and is connected to the water passage by way of an annular groove, for receiving water which it sprays forwardly against the cutter bit.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a cemented carbide body containing from about 3 to less than about 15 wt-% binder phase and essentially WC as the remainder. By alloying the binder phase with from about 0.5 to about 15 wt-% Mn an increase in the strength of the WC/WC grain boundaries is obtained.

Abstract: A machine spindle includes a casing and a clamping mechanism disposed in the casing. The clamping mechanism includes front and rear drawbars which are relatively movable axially within the casing. A gas spring biases the rear drawbar rearwardly, and a force transmitting mechanism transmits such rearward motion to the front drawbar for moving the front drawbar rearwardly. In response to its rearward movement, the front drawbar actuates a clamp for clamping a tool. The gas spring includes a housing disposed in the casing and defining a gas chamber having a front wall through which the rear drawbar extends. The gas spring also includes a piston disposed in the gas chamber for axial movement therein. The piston is releasably connected to a rear end of the rear drawbar by a releasable coupling disposed in the chamber.

Abstract: A cutting tool for attachment to the leading area of a base is provided. The cutting tool includes a holder base having two substantially parallel cutting teeth extending from the holder base, the cutting teeth each having a cutting edge and an opening between the teeth. The cutting teeth define first and second cutting paths. The cutting teeth impact and cut asphalt shingles, and funneling surfaces of the teeth funnel the cut shingle material toward and through the opening, and into the path of the rear cutting member which cuts the material a second time. Thus, asphalt shingles are processed more efficiently, thereby creating less frictional heat and avoiding melting of the asphalt shingles.

A powder mixture of the components is formed and is ignited under an inert atmosphere to prevent promotion of dissociation and to cause the components to react.

Abstract: A mobile drilling rig includes a platform mounted on drivable ground supports. Drilling equipment is disposed on the platform and is operated by a power system that includes hydraulic pumps, a screw type air compressor, and a motor for driving the pumps and the compressor. A gearbox is common to the hydraulic pumps and the air compressor and includes an intermeshing gear arrangement for transmitting an inputted power from the motor to the pumps and the compressor. Compressed air from the compressor travels to an air reservoir in which compressor oil is separated from the air. The compressor oil is conducted to an oil inlet of the gearbox and is circulated through the gearbox to an oil outlet of the gearbox which communicates with an air inlet of the compressor.
Abstract: A threaded rock drill element for percussive rock drilling includes a body forming a center axis and having a hardened thread. The thread includes thread crests and thread bottoms and a hardened zone having increased hardness. The hardened zone includes first and second hardened areas extending radially from a crest and bottom (valley), respectively, of the thread, to a boundary curve of the hardened zone. The boundary curve has convex portions extending along the thread crests, and concave portions extending along the thread bottoms.
Abstract: A machine spindle includes a casing and a drawbar assembly disposed in the casing for clamping a tool in place. The drawbar assembly includes a front drawbar having a tool clamp, and a rear drawbar movable rearwardly under a spring force for pulling the front drawbar rearwardly to activate the clamp. A rearward force from the rear drawbar is transmitted to the front drawbar by a wedge arrangement that includes multiple pairs of wedges that have cooperative sliding surfaces that make surface contact (as opposed to line contact) with one another. The cooperative sliding surfaces are configured to provide an amplified rearward force against the front drawbar during a final stage of clamping.
