  • Patent number: 8057132
Abstract: An indexable milling insert, including an upperside, an underside parallel to an imaginary reference plane, and two cutting edges. Each cutting edge includes a cutting edge line and is formed between a chip surface included in the upperside and a first clearance surface extending between the upperside and the underside, the first clearance surface forming an acute, nominal first clearance angle (?) with a normal to the reference plane. Each cutting edge includes a main edge, which is at least partly convexly curved as viewed in plane elevation from above, and which extends from an initial end, which determines the maximal cutting depth of the milling insert, to a corner edge having a radius of curvature that is smaller than the radius of curvature of the main edge, the main edge rising in the direction from the initial end toward the corner edge such that the distance thereof to the underside successively increases in the direction.

  • Patent number: 8051927
Abstract: A drill bit for percussive rock drilling of the type that comprises a front head and a tubular skirt, which extends rearward from the head to a rear, ring-shaped end and includes an internal thread for the transfer of combined impact and rotary motions to the drill bit is disclosed. The rear end of the skirt is, via an unelastic joint, e.g., a friction weld, united to a front end of a sleeve having an envelope surface, from which a plurality of projections are peripherically spaced-apart from each other project, e.g., ridges, having the purpose of guiding the drill bit in the drill hole. By assembling the drill bit of two parts, the internal thread can be turned with high accuracy and smoothness, at the same time as the drill bit is given an inherent good controllability. In an additional aspect, a method for the manufacture of such a drill bit is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8047460
Abstract: A gyratory crusher has an outer shell, which is attachable in a frame having a frustoconical supporting surface, which is facing obliquely downwards and inwards. The outer shell has on the outer surface a collar, which has outer lugs, which are movable, from below, past the supporting surface and between inner lugs of a ring. The inner and outer lugs have mutually corresponding contact surfaces, which are adapted, by relative rotation of the ring and the outer shell, to be positioned opposite each other and, upon lifting of the ring, to lift also the outer shell so that a lower portion of the outer shell abuts the supporting surface of the frame. The contact surfaces of the inner and outer lugs are arranged such that lifting of the ring causes the outer lugs to be lifted by means of the inner lugs and brings the inner and outer lugs into radial abutment against each other.

  • Patent number: 8033765
Abstract: The invention relates to a base body for a drilling tool, in particular to drilling/grinding tool whose front surface (14) can accommodate a cutting insert holder (2). Said invention also relates to a cutting insert holder used with said base body (1) provided with a seat for receiving a cutting insert (13, 13?, 13?). The aim of the invention is to develop a flexibly usable drilling tool whose cutting insert holder can be adjusted in a simple and accurate manner and is not expensive. For this purpose, at least one adjusting pin (4) which is connected to the base body (1) axially overlaps the cutting insert holder (2) and/or the cutting insert in such a way that a radial adjustment of the cutting insert holder (2) with respect to the base body (1) can be carried out by measuring the radial deviation (a) between the defined point of the cutting insert holder (2) or a cutting insert (3, 3?, 3?) accommodated thereby and the adjusting pin (4).

  • Publication number: 20110241407
Abstract: An assembly is disclosed including a holder block, a cutting pick, and an optional hollow sleeve, wherein the shank of the cutting pick is inserted into the holder block or, where present, into the hollow sleeve. When assembled, surfaces of the components meet at an interface. At least one of the first interface and the second interface includes one or more sets of wear elements including cemented carbide bodies press fit into recesses in the forwardly oriented surfaces meeting at the interfaces. The wear elements mitigate direct contact between the opposing surfaces of the components at the interfaces and prevents excessive wear from repetitive impact because the harder wear elements, e.g., cemented carbide, are contact points between the opposing surfaces of the components at the interfaces. A machine incorporating the assembly and a method of manufacturing the assembly are also disclosed, particularly a machine for mining, excavating, tunneling, road planing and/or construction.
