Patent number: 4083052Abstract: An electronic tachograph for providing a chart recording of the speed of a vehicle and the distance travelled by the vehicle in relation to time includes an input transducer coupled to the vehicle drive to provide distance pulses representing the distance travelled by the vehicle, a sampling circuit which samples the distance pulses at a predetermined rate and provides pulses to a speed counter and a distance counter which responsively provide control outputs representative of the speed of the vehicle and the distance travelled by the vehicle for controlling stepping motors which effect the positioning of a speedometer shaft and the incrementing of an odometer, and for moving a speed stylus and an odometer stylus on a recording chart which is driven by a further stepping motor controlled by outputs of a time base generator which supplies timing pulses to the sampling circuit and the speed control circuits.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1976Date of Patent: April 4, 1978Assignee: Sangamo Electric CompanyInventor: Wilbur F. Metcalf

Patent number: 4074192Abstract: A manual mechanism for resetting a rotatable member to its initial position is disclosed which provides for rotation of 360.degree. or more, rotates in one direction only, and can be simply locked and unlocked for periodic use. In one embodiment the resetting mechanism is applied to cumulative demand registers on watt hour meters.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1976Date of Patent: February 14, 1978Assignee: Sangamo Electric CompanyInventor: David G. Hart

Patent number: 4048605Abstract: A split core current transformer for coupling monitoring apparatus to a current carrying conductor includes a two-piece annular core structure formed by first and second arcuate core assemblies having windings, connectable to the monitoring apparatus, wound on laminated core sections, the laminated core sections each including a plurality of flat lamination elements arranged in a stacked configuration with alternate elements having generally circular end portions which project beyond the main body portion of the arcuate core section at each end thereof defining generally circular gaps, permitting interleaving of the projecting end portions of the core sections of the two core assemblies providing an annular core structure having two interleaved joints which are held together by way of removable hinge pins which permit separation of the interleaved projecting end portions at either one of the joints to facilitate coupling to the current carrying conductor.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1976Date of Patent: September 13, 1977Assignee: Sangamo Electric CompanyInventor: Samuel C. McCollum

Patent number: 4004207Abstract: A multiple contact rotary switch comprises a rotatable staff to which an armature is electrically and physically mounted. A plurality of pins is spaced equi-radially away from the staff and around the staff, and the armature is arranged to move past each of the pins in turn as the staff rotates. The armature is flexible and spring-like, so that it maintains contact with any one pin for as long as it can, then springs forwardly to contact the next pin. A low power SPDT switch is thereby provided. The switch may operate extremely slowly, with no switch contact dead-break or teasing.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1975Date of Patent: January 18, 1977Assignee: Sangamo Electric CompanyInventor: Vernon E. Dickson

Patent number: 3970861Abstract: A peak load control and power-distributing system for residential or small commercial/industrial use in which some loads are uncontrolled and others are controlled. Current transformers in the main feeder for all loads supply current to a thermal switch to detect when the power demand exceeds a predetermined value. The thermal switch starts a small synchronous motor having gears driving a shaft with cams operating microswitches for the controlled loads. One cam switch enables the motor to operate through a preprogrammed cycle, and to turn off at the end of a cycle whenever the thermal switch indicates the power demand has dropped below the predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1974Date of Patent: July 20, 1976Assignee: Sangamo Electric CompanyInventor: Samuel C.
