    Abstract: A device with an electromagnetic clutch includes a tubular member of steel which is secured to, and cantilevered by, a flange member secured to a housing of the device. A pulley having magnetic pole faces is rotatably mounted on the tubular member by one or more bearings. A drive shaft of the device extends out of the housing and through the tubular member, and supports a magnetic armature on the extended end. An electromagnet associating with the pulley is fixedly supported on the flange member to supply magnetic attraction force for attracting the armature plate to the pulley. In the arrangement, since the wall thickness of the tubular member is made thin, the outer diameter of the clutch can be reduced without degrading the transmission of rotational force. And a shaft seal assembly can be mounted on the drive shaft within the tubular member. Furthermore, the inner ring of the bearing is held between the flange member and a retaining ring fitted onto the tubular member, to be prevented from axial movement.

    Abstract: In a scroll type compressor unit including two interfitting fixed and orbiting scroll members in the compressor housing, a crank shaft projecting from the interior of the compressor housing and rotatably supported by a radial bearing, a crank pin on the inner end of the crank shaft on which the orbiting scroll member is rotatably supported by another radial bearing, and a rotation preventing mechanism for preventing the orbiting scroll member from rotating, an oil accumulating chamber is provided in the compressor housing to connect with the fluid inlet port of the compressor housing in order to lubricate those radial bearings and other moving parts. A shaft seal assembly is mounted on the crank shaft in a shaft seal cavity which is communicated with the oil accumulating chamber through a first oil passageway formed in the wall of the compressor housing.

    Abstract: A scroll type compressor unit including a compressor housing having fluid inlet and outlet ports, and two fixed and orbiting scroll members within the compressor housing. Each scroll member has an end plate and a spiral element which are maintained angularly and radially offset so that both spiral elements interfit with a line contacts between the spiral curved surfaces to define moving sealed off pockets. In order that the fluid may be reliably taken into all fluid pockets, the end plate of the fixed scroll member is formed with a suction port connecting to the fluid inlet port at a position adjacent to the outer terminal end of the orbiting spiral element. Thus, the fluid introduced through the suction port may be taken into a fluid pocket which is formed at the outer terminal end portion of the orbiting spiral element and is sent along the outer surface of the orbiting spiral element to a fluid pocket which is formed at the outer terminal end of the fixed spiral element.

    Abstract: A control circuit for an automatic cooking apparatus for cooking processed food contained in a cup, wherein desired ones of a plurality of hot water sources can be operated during a predetermined time by operating one of a group of cook selector controls. The control circuit comprises a plurality of timers each of which has a variable operating time period. Each timer is connected to a corresponding one of the cook selector controls and is started by the operation of one of those selector controls. A corresponding cooking device is connected to an output of each timer, a corresponding hot water source is connected, and to a power source through a common diode. The output of each timer connected to each selector control, which selects the operation of two or more hot water source, is connected through a diode to a cooking device to be operated at the time of the operation of the hot water source connected to the each timer.

    Abstract: A temperature control circuit of an automobile air-conditioning system includes a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of air blown into the room of the automobile. The signal detected by the sensor is compared at a first comparator with a voltage level corresponding to a predetermined temperature. The output of the first comparator at a time when the blown air temperature is lowered to the predetermined temperature, is delayed by a delay circuit and is applied to a second comparator. Then, the second comparator generates a signal for stopping the operation of the refrigerant compressor. The signal is also applied to a third comparator which maintain the stop signal until the signal corresponding to a higher temperature is applied thereto from the temperature sensor. Thus, the frost on the refrigerant evaporator can be defrosted before the compressor restarts.A fourth comparator is used for controlling the temperature of the room of the automobile.

    Abstract: A scroll-type refrigerant compressor unit is provided in which any deflections and undesired vibrations of the moving parts are prevented by a simple construction and in which the orbiting scroll member is prevented from rotating by a simple mechanism. The disk rotor having the drive pin is mounted on an inner end of a drive shaft which is rotatably mounted through the front end plate of the compressor housing. The disk rotor is rotatably supported on the inner surface of the front end plate through a thrust bearing. The orbiting scroll member is rotatably mounted on the drive pin. The orbiting scroll member has a radial flange integrally formed with the scroll member, the flange is supported on the disk rotor through a thrust bearing. Therefore, the drive shaft, the disk rotor, the drive pin and the orbiting scroll member are supported without undesired deflection and vibration during operation.

    Abstract: A method for producing a magnetic rotatable member as a part of a pulley in an electromagnetic clutch is proposed. In order to reduce the producing time and the wasted material amount, the rotatable member is formed by press-drawing a magnetic circular plate to form an annular body consisted of an outer annular cylindrical portion, an inner annular cylindrical portion and an axial end annular plate portion connecting therebetween. Thereafter, the blank is subjected to ironing to form a radial annular rim on the outer surface of the outer annular cylindrical portion at the axial end, and also subjected to cutting-away and bending processes to cut away the outer edge of the inner annular cylindrical portion and to bend the resultant annular thin wall portion radially inwardly so that a radial flange is formed.

    Abstract: A scroll-type refrigerant compressor unit is assembled by inserting parts into the compressor housing in a predetermined order and by finally securing a front end plate onto the compressor housing by bolts, which simplifies the production of the compressor unit. A drive shaft is supported by a single radial bearing, and a disk rotor having a drive pin to effect the orbital motion of the orbiting scroll member is fixedly mounted on the inner end of the drive shaft and is supported on the front end plate by a thrust bearing. Thus, the drive shaft and, therefore, the compressor unit are reduced in length and deflections and vibrations of the drive shaft are prevented. A lubricating system is provided to lubricate the shaft seal assembly on the drive shaft wherein the oil in the compressor housing is directed to the shaft seal cavity and returns to the interior of the compressor housing after lubricating the radial and thrust bearings and other parts.

    Abstract: In a refrigerant compressor unit of a type in which the reciprocating movement of pistons is caused by the nutation of a non-rotatably but nutatably supported wobble plate driven by a cam rotor. The wobble plate includes a ring member and a bevel gear member. The bevel gear member is provided with a plurality of axial grooves in the peripheral side surface thereof. The gear member is fitted into a counterbore formed in the ring member and secured by caulking the peripheral edge of the counterbore to the ring member. The material of the ring member is moved into the grooves and valleys between the teeth of the gear by the caulking operation so that relative rotation and axial movement of the ring member and gear member is prevented. The wobble plate is supported on a ball bearing so as to be able to nutate about the ball center but is prevented from rotation by engagement of the bevel gear with another bevel gear fixedly supported on the cylinder block.

    Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch for selectively transmitting the rotation of a magnetic pulley to a rotatable shaft by the magnetic attraction of an annular magnetic armature plate elastically supported on the shaft to an axial end of the pulley produced by the energization of an electromagnet stationarily disposed in a radial hollow portion of the pulley. A radial inner wall defining the hollow portion of the pulley is partially thicker in the radial thickness at an axial extent between the axial end of the pulley and the electromagnet, thereby to decrease the magnetic resistance through the axial extent and to strengthen the magnetic attraction force between the pulley and the armature without increasing the outer diameter of the clutch. A magnetic ring may be partially fitted to the inner wall to substantially increase the radial thickness in place of the partial increase of the radial thickness of the inner wall itself.

The unit is provided with an oil collecting zone within the discharge chamber and has an oil accumulating chamber formed on a lower portion of the cylinder head. Oil mixed with compressed refrigerant gas within the discharge chamber adheres the inner surface of the discharge chamber and flows into the collecting zone. The collected oil is accumulated in the accumulating chamber and returns to the crank chamber through an oil passageway between the accumulating chamber and the crank chamber, thereby reducing the oil leakage into the refrigerant circulating system.

    Abstract: A lubrication system for a compressor unit includes a deflector depending from the inner wall of the compressor housing for directing the oil on the inner wall through a passageway of the front housing into the shaft seal cavity. A flange member extends from the depended end of the deflector along the inner wall of the compressor housing to prevent the oil flow directed to the shaft seal cavity from leaking into the interior of the compressor housing. A balance hole that permits a blow-by refrigerant gas to flow from the crank chamber into the suction chamber is formed in the cylinder block near the center thereof so that oil in the crank chamber is prevented from flowing into the balance hole. The compressor may also include a wobble plate supported by a bearing ball. A seat of the bearing ball is provided with an oil passageway which communicates with a crank chamber so that the bearing ball is lubricated.

The wobble plate thus nutates along the spherical convex surface by the rotation of the associated cam rotor.

    Abstract: A refrigerant compressor for use in an automotive air conditioning refrigerating system is provided with an electromagnetic clutch and an AC electric generator assembled on the compressor. The electromagnetic clutch comprises a pulley rotatably mounted on the compressor housing to be driven by the engine of the car, a magnetic attracting surface, and a magnetic armature connected to a drive shaft of the compressor to be magnetically attracted to the magnetic attracting surface to selectively drive the compressor by the engine. The AC electric generator comprises a stator statically mounted on the compressor housing and a rotor mounted on the pulley. One of the stator and the rotor includes concentric magnetic pole pieces of permanent magnets or of electromagnets, and the other of the stator and rotor includes a coil member to which AC current is induced upon the rotation of the rotor together with the pulley.
