Abstract: Described is a needle safety device comprising a needle hub including a plurality of resilient arms having detents, a needle having a distal tip, and a needle shield telescopically coupled to the needle hub. The needle shield includes a plurality of axial slots adapted to engage the detents on the resilient arms and the detents are axially movable in the slots. The needle shield includes a plurality of grooves separated from the slots by separation walls and the grooves are adapted to engage the detents. When the needle shield is in a first position relative to the needle hub, the needle shield covers the distal tip of the needle and the detents are engaged in the slots. When the needle shield is in a second position relative to the needle hub, the distal tip of the needle protrudes through an aperture in the needle shield and the detents are engaged in the slots.

Abstract: According to the invention, a safety device for a pre-filled syringe comprises a hollow support body to retain the pre-filled syringe therein, a hollow needle shield that is slidable relative to the support body and guiding means for guiding the movement of the needle shield relative to the support body. The guiding means comprise a guide pin, a guide track and a cut-out adjacent to the guide track. The guide pin protrudes into the guide track and moves within and along the guide track when the needle shield is slid relative to the support body. The cut-out allows a side wall of the guide track to be deflected in a lateral direction perpendicular to a central axis of the safety device.

Abstract: A medicament injection device includes a device body portion that includes a penetrating member channel. A penetrating member is provided with a sharpened distal tip and shaft portion that is slidably disposed within the penetrating channel to provide for a penetrating to travel in a linear axial movement. A pierceable membrane isolates a penetrating member in an associated penetrating member chamber. A medicament reservoir is in fluid communication with the penetrating member. The medicament reservoir is configured to house a medicament and is coupled to the penetrating member to allow for delivery of medicament to a tissue site.
Abstract: The present invention relates to exendin-4 derivatives and their medical use, for example in the treatment of disorders of the metabolic syndrome, including diabetes and obesity, as well as reduction of excess food intake.

Abstract: The invention relates to a detent mechanism for controlling translation between two components in a longitudinal direction (P, D), the detent mechanism comprising at least one clip on one of the components arranged to be in a ramped engagement with a recess in the other one of the components in an initial state in such a manner that translation between the components is constrained and that application of a translative force between the components in one longitudinal direction (P, D) with the clip engaged with the recess deflects the clip out of the recess when a predetermined value of the translative force, at least depending on the resilience of the clip, is overcome so as to allow translation between the components.

Abstract: A dose setting mechanism that prevents dispensing of a drug when an incorrect cartridge assembly is attached to the dose setting mechanism. Dispense of a drug may be allowed by preventing rotation of a spindle nut of a drug delivery device, and dispense of a drug may be prevented by not preventing rotation of the spindle nut. Preventing dispense of a drug may be accomplished by preventing rotation of the spindle when an incorrect cartridge assembly is inserted. Preventing dispense of a drug may be accomplished by preventing the spindle from applying an axial force on the cartridge when an incorrect cartridge assembly is inserted.

Abstract: The present invention relates to Pharmaceutical compositions comprising an antibody specifically binding to human proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), to methods for treating diseases or conditions in which proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) expression or activity causes an impact by administration of PCSK9-specific antibodies or antigen-binding fragments thereof and preferably by additional administration of an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-CoA reductase (HMG-CoA reductase). The present invention further relates to PCSK9-specific antibodies or antigen-binding fragments thereof for use in the treatment of diseases or conditions in which PCSK9 expression or activity causes an impact.
Abstract: The drive mechanism for a drug delivery device comprises a piston rod, which is displaced in a distal direction for a delivery of a dose and in a proximal direction for a reset, and a rotatable drive member, which is threadedly engaged with the piston rod and rotates during the delivery of the dose. A biasing member is provided, which is loaded by the rotation of the drive member during the delivery of the dose and tends to rotate the piston rod with respect to the drive member in such a way that the piston rod is screwed into the drive member and is thereby advanced in the proximal direction. The drug delivery device is provided with such a drive mechanism.
