  • Patent number: 5215324
Abstract: A removal preventing mechanism for preventing unexpected removal of a bicycle hub assembly comprises a latch member pivotally mounted to each fork end having a hub mounting cutout which receives a hub shaft. The latch member is pivotable between a locking position for preventing removal movement of the hub shaft from the hub mounting cutout of the fork end and an unlocking position for allowing movement of the hub shaft from and into the hub mounting cutout. The latch member is normally urged to the locking position by a spring.

  • Patent number: 5163740
Abstract: A bicycle unit hub incorporates a hub shell rotatably supported on a hub shaft, a core mounted to one end of the hub shell for co-rotation therewith, a sprocket carrier supported around the core to rotate relative thereto only in one direction, and a hollow bolt inserted into the hub shell from the other end thereof. The bolt has a head engageable with an annular step formed on the hub shell. The bolt also has a threaded tip portion for engagement with an internally threaded portion of the core or a nut, so that the hub shell is clamped between the bolt head and the core with resultant fixation of the core.

  • Patent number: 5022672
Abstract: A theftproof quick-release type clamping assembly for mounting a bicycle part comprises a tie rod having one end screwed to an end nut and formed at the other end with an enlarged head, and a hollow presser member fitted around the enlarged head as movable relative thereto axially of the tie rod toward and away from the end nut in response to pivotal movement of a lever which has a shaft portion penetrating the presser member and the enlarged head. A lock member screwed to the enlarged head is advanced into abutment with the presser member when the presser member is axially moved toward the end nut, thereby directly limiting axial movement of the presser member away from the end nut. In this condition, the lever can be manually removed from the presser member and the enlarged head without using any tool, thus providing theft prevention.

  • Patent number: 4906053
Abstract: A quick-release type clamping assembly for a bicycle hub comprises a tie rod having a threaded portion at one end and formed at the other end with an enlarged head. An end nut is screwed on the threaded portion of the tie rod. A presser member is fitted around the enlarged head, the presser member being movable relative to the enlarged head axially of the tie rod toward and away from the end nut in response to pivotal movement of an operating lever. A hub stopper is provided to surround at least one of the end nut and the presser member. The stopper is movable axially of the tie rod between an advanced position and a retreated position, and has a engaging portion for engagement with a corresponding fork end to prevent the hub from displacing relative to the fork end when the stopper assumes the advanced position. A locking mechanism holds the hub stopper in the advanced position.
