  • Patent number: 4668087
Abstract: A sensor (10) for measurement of the deflection of a machine element comprises a detecting portion, a light source, a light detector, and connected guides. An electronic data processing unit is connected to the sensor. The detecting portion comprises a tuft of optical fibers, a focusing lens fitted into a tube, and a mirror separated from the tube. The deflection of the machine element (17) caused by the work piece results in an inclination of the mirror relative to the center line of the tube, and therefore a light beam from the light source is reflected in the mirror towards a point on the end of the fiber tuft which is arranged at a distance from the center line. This reflected light is transferred to the light detector for transmission of an analogous signal to the electronic unit in which the value of the deflection is determined.

  • Patent number: 4665618
Abstract: A device for a motorized saw wherein the saw guide bar consists of a reciprocating toothed saw blade (13) and a relative to this stationary support plate (12). One circular disc (14) is loosely laid into an elongated recess (15) in the support plate (12) such that it is movable relative to the support plate (12) as well as to the saw blade (13) and therefore the friction against the support plate is diminished.

  • Patent number: 4655648
Abstract: A router tool and a cutting insert for transverse cutting of a work piece, preferably of fiber reinforced plastics. The router comprises a shank and a cylindrical router body having chip gullets and sites that have received cutting inserts. Each insert has a cutting edge which has a number of teeth extending in the rotational direction of the router. The inserts are staggered in the axial direction such that the router varying will present a right-handed cutting edge portion and a left-handed cutting edge portion whereby the work piece may be machined without producing defective burrs and fluffy fibers.

  • Patent number: 4648760
Abstract: The invention relates to a short-hole drill and a cutting insert therefor, for drilling of metallic work pieces. The drill comprises a drill shank with two chip flutes formed therein and with two cutting insert sites and two mainly rectangular cutting inserts having mutually identical shaping. The cutting inserts are accommodated in the cutting insert sites and secured thereto by means of lock screws such that the broken non-active cutting edge abuts against a broken support surface in each cutting insert site while the active cutting edge projects axially forwards. The cutting insert which is arranged radially outermost is inclined such that it determines the size of the bore while the longitudinal axis of the other cutting insert is arranged parallel to the center line (CL) of the drill. The distance between the outermost parts of each cutting edge is longer than the shortest distance between the long side surfaces of the cutting insert.

  • Patent number: 4642006
Abstract: A tool mounting between a cutting tool, for example a drill, and a machine spindle, comprising a tool element and a tightening device. The tool element consists of a body and an expandable attachment tap. The attachment tap is formed with grooves to receive a gripping implement of a tool interchanging mechanism and with a through opening to receive an end portion of a pull rod. The tightening device comprises a pull rod movably mounted in an inner pipe and forwardly projecting resilient portions. During changing to an other tool the opening at the attachment tap (13) is moved over the end portion by means of the gripping implement while a wall of the opening of the attachment tap slip against the resilient portions until a stop pin on the tool shank engages the end surface of the end portion and the resilient portions snap into recesses in the hole wall.

  • Patent number: 4633998
Abstract: A conveyor system with upper and lower runs carrying racks for articles dispenses with the usual conveyors for moving the racks along the runs. Instead, the racks are stacked along the runs, and vertical conveyors at the ends of the runs transport the racks between the runs and impel them along the run to which they have been conveyed.

  • Patent number: 4632606
Abstract: An indexible insert is mounted on a shank. The insert includes angled centering surfaces which engage angled localizing surfaces on the shank. The insert includes abutment surfaces which engage support surfaces on the shank. The point of contact between the abutment and support surfaces is located farther from the working cutting edge than is the point of contact between the centering and localizing surfaces. Thus, when the working cutting edge is acted upon by a lateral force, the abutment and support surfaces bear against each other with a greater force than do the centering and localizing surfaces. Accordingly, less wear occurs at the centering surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4632607
Abstract: An indexable cutting insert (10) for a tool (18) adapted to cut internal right-angled corners in a work piece (19). The insert (10) has a square configuration and comprises a top major surface (11), a bottom major surface (12) and connecting side surfaces (13). The lines of junction between the top major surface and the side surfaces define the main cutting edges (14) and the minor cutting edges (15). The main cutting edges (14) transite into the second cutting edges (15) in the corners of the insert. Each second cutting edge (15D) projects from the square basical shape so that it will lift the inactive main cutting edge (14A) from the machined surface under the insert.

  • Patent number: 4632608
Abstract: An indexable cutting insert for a variety of turning operations, which mainly has a rhombical or triangular basic form. The cutting corners of the cutting insert are provided with nose portions. Each nose portion is expanded in the width direction at an acute-angled corner mainly symmetrically about the bisector of the cutting corner. Thus the cutting insert achieves a locally large setting angle or clearance angle.

  • Patent number: 4619866
Abstract: In coating cemented carbide or ceramics, with thin, wear resistant layers of ceramic oxide, particularly aluminum oxide, by CVD, it has been very difficult to make sufficiently even layers and to obtain desired thickness of the layer within reasonable coating times. According to the invention an improved method utilizing a dopant selected from the group consisting of sulfur, selenium, tellurium, phosphorous, arsenic, antimony, bismuth and mixtures thereof, is now available by which a considerable increase of the growth rate of the layer as well as optimal properties regarding evenness and thickness of the layer have been obtained, making the product better suited for cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4607712
Abstract: Rock drill bit of the impact type comprising a cylindrical body and a front surface provided with fixed peripherally spaced inserts. The head section of each insert comprises a first and a second working surface. The first working surface is arched in the radial direction of the rock drill bit but planar in a direction perpendicular thereto. The second working surface is quarter-spherical and turned towards the center of the rock drill bit. A transition portion extends between the first working surface and the jacket surface of the insert. The transition portion determines the diameter of the bore.

  • Patent number: 4598779
Abstract: A rock drill bit of the impact type comprising a boring head, a shaft having ridges, a front surface and a number of peripherally spaced holes receiving inserts, said holes extending forwardly and outwardly at an acute angle .phi. with respect to the center line of the drill bit. The guiding surface of the insert mainly coincides with the jacket surface of the bit body when the insert has been fixed in the hole which emerges into both the jacket surface and the front surface of the bit body. This means that the guiding surface partly extends on both sides of the plane of the front surface.

  • Patent number: 4596295
Abstract: The present invention relates to a roller cutter to be mounted on a rock boring head via a journal and a saddle. The journal has two ends that are supposed to be fixed to a conventional saddle.
