  • Publication number: 20040189597
Abstract: The present invention provides a wireless portable terminal comprising a first case and a second case which are interconnected by a hinge mechanism. The second case is closable to a first posture wherein a front surface of the first case is covered, and is openable to a second posture wherein the surface is exposed. A display is arranged on a rear surface of the second case. A pointing device projects from a surface of the first case for performing an input manipulation on a screen presented on the display. A through bore extending through the second case from the front surface thereof to the rear surface thereof is provided at the position opposed to the pointing device when in the first posture.

  • Publication number: 20040192417
Abstract: The invention provides a portable electronic device wherein a first case has a first sound radiating hole formed in the front wall thereof and positioned as opposed to a speaker and a second sound radiating hole formed in the rear wall thereof and positioned as opposed to the speaker. The two cases are rotatably joined by a hinge mechanism. The second case has a second knuckle constituting the hinge mechanism and provided with a strip member for opening or closing the second sound radiating hole with the closing or opening movement of the second case. The strip member has a free end portion to be wound up by the second knuckle to open the second sound radiating hole when the two cases are in a closed state or to be paid out to close the second sound radiating hole when the two cases are in an opened state.

  • Publication number: 20040192239
Abstract: A transmission weight vector computing unit computes transmission weight vectors. A transmission weight vector correcting unit obtains a corrected transmission weight vector W′(t). A predicted receiving power computing unit computes a predicted receiving power value Y(t). If a difference between the predicted receiving power value Y(t) and a predicted receiving power value in the past Y(t-T) is less than a threshold value, an update unit selects the corrected transmission weight vector W′(t). If, on the other hand, the difference is greater or equal to the threshold value, the update unit selects a corrected weight vector in the past W′(t-xT). If the modulation method is QPSK, a setting unit selects the transmission weight vector W(t). If the modulation method is 16 QAM, the setting unit selects the corrected transmission weight vector W′(t) or W′(t-xT) and outputs it as a final transmission weight vector signal.

  • Publication number: 20040077384
Abstract: The invention provides a key input device comprising a plurality of key tops 7 arranged on a surface of a main body case, each of the key tops 7 having a body 73 of transparent resin, the key body 73 being provided with a light blocking film 71 formed over a front surface thereof, the light blocking film 71 being partly cut out to form a light transmitting pattern 72 representing a character. LEDs 8 are arranged below the key tops 7. Each of the key tops 7 has a semitransparent screen 9 formed on a rear surface thereof in an area to be illuminated with LEDs 8 and extending only over a region opposed to the light transmitting pattern 72.

Abstract: The invention provides a foldable electronic device comprising a main body and a closure connected to each other openably. A frame 6 is provided inside the closure and holds therein a main display 4 and a subdisplay 5 as arranged back to back. A chip mount area 42 of a flexible lead 41 extending from the main display 4 and a chip mount area 53 of a flexible lead 51 extending from the subdisplay 5 are opposed to each other in an opening formed in the frame 6. Opposed surfaces of the respective chip mount areas 42, 53 have groups of electronic circuit chips 43, 54 mounted thereon as positioned in a staggered relation with each other.

  • Publication number: 20040014443
Abstract: In a radio reception apparatus compatible with adaptive modulation, based on a received IQ signal processed by a reception processing unit, a determining unit calculates EVM that corresponds to a magnitude of shift-off between a true symbol point and the received symbol point. The calculated EVM is averaged and thereafter applied to a control unit. The control unit compares the applied EVM with a prescribed threshold value, and determines with high accuracy, switching among a plurality of modulation methods having different multi-value numbers.
