Abstract: A process for protecting, especially against corrosion, a silver or silver-coated part, wherein a Cu--Sn alloy comprising from 53 to 75% copper and from 25 to 47% tin and optionally comprising up to 10% zinc is deposited on the said part over a thickness of less than 0.01 .mu.m. Another aspect of the invention is a silver or silver-coated part additionally having a protective coating formed from a Cu--Sn or Cu--Sn--Zn alloy, with a thickness of less than 0.01 .mu.m.
