Abstract: A force transducer for sensing the weight introduced into the mounting of a motor vehicle seat is disclosed. The force transducer includes a force introduction element that is connected to the motor vehicle seat, a force transfer element that is connected to the mounting, and an extension member that is arranged between the force introduction element and the force transfer element. The force transducer makes it possible to accurately determine the weight introduced into the mounting of the motor vehicle seat independently of other influencing forces by the fact that the force introduction element or the force transfer element surrounds the extension member in a plane that extends parallel to the effective direction of the weight, and that at least one wire strain gauge for sensing a shearing force parallel to the weight is arranged on the extension member.

Abstract: A balance including a weighing pan (2; 32), a weigh sensor (8; 38) with a housing (1; 31) enclosing the weigh sensor, and an antenna (7; 37) configured to communicate with a transponder (4) that is, e.g., associated with or attached to an object being weighed (3). The antenna (7; 37) is arranged in a horizontal plane in or below the weighing pan (2; 32) and the weighing pan is preferably made of an electrically poorly conductive material. As a result, the antenna is almost invisibly integrated in the balance and does not interfere with the placement of the objects being weighed on the balance.
Abstract: A method for testing the integrity of filter elements, in which the convective component of the volumetric gas flow rate is determined from the ratio of the volumetric gas flow rates and the ratio of the solubility or diffusion coefficients of two different gases in the wetting liquid of the filter elements or is determined from the ratio of the volumetric gas flow rates and the ratio of the solubility or diffusion coefficients of a test gas in two different wetting liquids.
Abstract: An electronic balance including a housing (1), a weighing scale (2), a windshield (3), which preferably at least partially surrounds the weighing scale, and a display and operating unit (4) which is connected to the balance housing. The connecting part (5) between the display and operating unit (4) and the housing (1) consists essentially of a material with poor heat conduction properties. At least one vertical radiation protection plate (6) is provided between the display and operating unit (4) and the housing (1), and the connecting part (5) is configured in such a way as to impair air convection on both sides of the radiation protection plate(s) (6) preferably to the least extent possible. This results in excellent thermal decoupling between the display and operating unit (4) and the housing (1).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process which can be carried out continuously for the adsorption separation of substances in liquid media, in which process a flat adsorbent is loaded with an adsorbate by contacting the adsorbate-containing medium with the entire adsorbing outer surface of the adsorbent without forced flow through, and to an apparatus for carrying out the inventive process.
Abstract: A display and operating element (1) for an electronic scale with a display area (2, 3) in which the weighing results and values, parameters or selection lists can be displayed for user prompting either separated spatially or in succession over time, and having at least one button (6-8) for operating the scale. The display and operating element (1) has a rotary knob (4) on one side that turns in both directions to cause the values, parameters or marked areas of the selection list displayed in the display area (3) to change in one or the other direction. A button (5) is assigned to the rotary knob (4) as an acknowledgement button. Operation of this acknowledgement button (5) causes the value, parameter and marked area of the selection list selected using the rotary knob (4) to be accepted into the electronic evaluation unit of the scale. Accordingly, simple and fast setting of values and/or parameters and a fast selection of a specific item from a selection list can be achieved.

Abstract: A method is made available for conducting an integrity test of filter elements (3), in particular of sterile filters. The integrity test involves direct measurement, at constant pressure, of a liquid flow on the inflow side of the filter element (3) to be tested. The test method is practically independent of changing environmental conditions, provides a result which is not distorted by a change of pressure on the inflow side of the filter element, and permits a very short measurement time.

Abstract: An electronic weighing sensor (10) having a digital signal processing unit (19), which includes at least one filter (12) with low-pass characteristic. By means of the filter (12), the direct-current component (m) is determined from the output signal of the weighing sensor and the weighing result is derived therefrom. A signal, which is dependent on the amplitude of the vibrations, is determined by the digital signal processing unit (19) and electronic components (18) change the direct-current component (m) as a function of the magnitude of the vibration-dependent signal. This significantly improves the performance of the weighing sensor (10) with respect to shocks and vibrations in the installation site of the weighing sensor (10).
Abstract: There is disclosed a vacuum filtration device for aqueous media that includes a hydrophilic tubular filter element in a cylindrical housing and at least one hydrophobic gas-permeable membrane, coupled with a gas bleed-off valve to allow the escape of air entrained in the filtration medium.
Abstract: There is disclosed a system capable of purifying water to a laboratory grade level that uses redox media, high energy catalytic activated carbon, ultraviolet radiation and high purity ion exchange media in series filtration. The system produces purified water having a specific resistance of at least 18.2 megohm·cm at 25° C. with low organic carbon content. The system is designed to be fabricated on a sufficiently small scale to fit on a lab bench top.

Abstract: An analytical balance that includes a balance scale, a wind guard encircling the balance scale, and an apparatus for generating an ionized stream of air for dissipating electrostatic charges of goods to be weighed. The apparatus for generating an ionized stream of air includes a blower that draws in air from the weighing space into at least one boundary surface of the weighing space. The blower also recycles the air back into the weighing space via at least one exhaust opening at another point. In this manner, highly effective dissipation of electrostatic charges is possible, and the stream of air can be conducted so that it exerts scarcely any vertical forces on the goods to be weighed. The analytical balance is very user-friendly in operation. Additionally, the apparatus for generating an ionized stream of air is preferably structured to be an easily installed optional component of the analytical balance.

Abstract: A monodirectional or bi-directional distributor plate for crossflow cassette-type filtration appliances is provided which comprises three parts and is used in the ultrafiltration or microfiltration of liquids. The three-part distributor plate assembly comprises a middle plate member, an upper plate member and a lower plate member, which when combined has a front and rear surface, a first and second side wall and a first and second edge wall. The front and rear surfaces of the distributor plate assembly are provided with feed, residue and filtrate orifices arranged to communicate with feed, residue and filtrate orifices of a plurality of filter cassettes. Due to the manner of flow to and/or from associated filter cassettes by way of the three-part distributor plate assembly, equal pressure can be achieved at all orifices to ensure equal flow over a filter membrane surface increasing filtration performance.
Abstract: An analytical balance includes a balance housing having a base area and back structure, a balance scale, and a wind guard encircling the balance scale. The wind guard includes a base surface formed by the base area, a back wall formed by the back structure, a fixed front pane, movable side panes, and a movable upper sliding door. The side panes and the upper sliding door can be opened or closed manually or by motor. The fixed front pane has no frame and is fastened to the base area. The side panes are guided on the base area and are secured on the back structure, to prevent tilting. The upper sliding door is guided by at least one sliding guide on the back structure. This configuration provides an open view of the goods being weighed that is essentially unobstructed from all sides, as well as ready access thereto.
