Patent number: 6615906Abstract: Latent heat body (1) with paraffin-based latent heat storage material accommodated in a carrier material which has holding spaces, wherein the carrier material comprises fibres of an organic plastics material or natural material or of an inorganic material or of textile materials. The carrier material is assembled from individual carrier-material elements by adhesive bonding, capillary-like holding spaces for the latent heat storage material being formed at least between the carrier-material elements. The latent heat storage material is provided with a thickening agent for providing increased viscosity to the heat storage material while in a molten state.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2000Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: Schümann Sasol GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Klaus Fieback, Michael Matthäi, Toni Haberschuss

Patent number: 6227285Abstract: A heat storage medium such as paraffin for a latent heat accumulator (cold accumulator), which solidifies while forming crystal structures. In order to achieve improved responsiveness on heat input, the crystal structures are modified by a structure additive preferably in terms of hollow structures, such as e.g. hollow cones.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1997Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Assignee: Schümann Sasol GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Günter Hildebrand, Michael Matthäi, Norbert Matzat, Rolf Laudi, Klaus Fieback, Wolfgang Ahrens, Thomas Krämer

Patent number: 6096102Abstract: A candle comprising candle base materials of a variety of kinds, on the one hand of a candle base material of a first kind which consists in part of white oil and of copolymer, synthetic paraffin being further contained as a constituent, in particular of chain length C18 to C20, and on the other hand of a candle base material of a second kind consisting of conventional paraffin derived from crude paraffins. The different candle base materials are arranged one over the other in a layered manner.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1999Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Assignee: Schumann Sasol GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6074548Abstract: A process for fractional crystallization of paraffin from mineral oil based and synthetic crude paraffin, wherein crude paraffin having a high oil content is crystallized in a crystallizer equipped with perforated metal sheets (31) extending in a zig-zag in the spaces between the heat exchanger surfaces (39). The paraffin-containing melt is only solidified to an extent such that the fractions and oils for discharge remain liquid and are run off without total solidification of the melt. The perforated sheets (31) support the layers of crystals (43) and during sweating the paraffin is detached in strips from the heat exchanger surface (39) and is adapted to rest on the sloping perforated sheets (31). The inclination of the perforated sheets (31) guides and moves the paraffin strips (53), so that the paraffin strips remain in contact with the heat exchanger surfaces (39) while being pressed by their own weight along the inclined surface (30) towards the heat exchanger surfaces (39).Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1998Date of Patent: June 13, 2000Assignees: Schumann Sasol GmbH & Co. KG, Sulzer Chemtech AGInventors: Norbert Matzat, Gunther Hildebrand, Ferdinand Richter, Manfred Stepanski, Florian Lippuner, Herbert Engstler, Bernhard J. Jans
