Patents Assigned to Sasol Technology (Propietary) Limited
  • Patent number: 9783739
Abstract: A Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process (10) includes feeding gaseous reactants (20) including at least CO, H2 and CO2into a reactor (14) holding an iron-based catalyst. The H2 and CO are fed in a H2:CO molar ratio of at least 2:1 and the CO2 and CO are fed in a CO2:CO molar ratio of at least 0.5:1. The reactor (14) is controlled at an operating temperature in the range from about 260° C. to about 300° C. A liquid product (22) and a gaseous product (24) including hydrocarbons, CO, H2, water and CO2 are withdrawn from the reactor (14).

  • Patent number: 9527782
Abstract: A method of preparing a modified catalyst support comprises preparing a titanium-containing catalyst support material by (i) contacting a catalyst support material with an organic titanium compound, or (ii) co-hydrolyzing a hydrolysable organic titanium compound and Al(OR?)3, with the titanium-containing catalyst support material then including Al, wherein all R? are the same or different and are each an organic group. The titanium-containing catalyst support material is calcined at a temperature above 900° C. to obtain a modified catalyst support which includes more than 1 wt % and less than 3.5 wt % Ti, based on the mass of the catalyst support material in the modified catalyst support, the Ti being present in the form of one or more titanium compounds.

  • Patent number: 9061952
Abstract: A process (10) to produce Fischer-Tropsch products includes feeding feed synthesis gas (30) with a substantially constant target feed synthesis gas H2/CO ratio to a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis stage (16). A portion of the feed synthesis gas (30) is converted to Fischer-Tropsch products in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis stage (16). The Fischer-Tropsch products (20) from the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis stage (16) are withdrawn. A Fischer-Tropsch synthesis stage tail gas (26) which includes unconverted H2 and CO is obtained. The operating conditions of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis stage (16) are manipulated to achieve a substantially constant target tail gas H2/CO ratio, with the target tail gas H2/CO ratio being substantially different from the target feed synthesis gas H2/CO ratio.
