  • Publication number: 20060171771
Abstract: The invention concerns a virtual painting system for simulating a paint application process and the resulting application of paint to a surface. The system includes a virtual paint applicator device, a position detector to detect the spatial position of the paint applicator device with respect to the surface to be painted, a data processing unit and a display device, wherein the position data of the paint applicator device are routed to the data processing unit, where they are converted into video data for rendering the virtual paint application visible, and which are further routed to the display device, in order to show a visual image of the virtual paint application process on the surface to be painted. This painting system makes possible a quick and, at the same time, realistic virtual representation of painting with a paint spray gun.

  • Patent number: 7018154
Abstract: This invention is directed towards a paint spray gun having a gun body with a male thread and having an air nozzle ring with a female thread which can be screwed onto the male thread of the gun body. The diameter of the thread is between about 30 and about 40 mm. The thread of the invention is a trapezoid thread with a flank angle in the range of about +/?20% of 30°. The thread has a thread height within the range of about +/?20% of 1.1 mm, a root to crest clearance within the range of about +/?20% of 0.1 mm and a flank clearance within the range of about +/?20% of 0.15 mm. The effect of these modifications to a standard trapezoid thread with a flank angle of about 30° is that the thread is optimally adjusted to serve as a thread connecting the body of a paint spray gun and a nozzle ring.

  • Patent number: 6877677
Abstract: A paint spraying gun with a gun body and a material supply device that are connected to one another by a screw-wedge connection. The screw-wedge connection includes a screw-wedge element that is arranged on the circumference of an essentially hollow-cylindrical connecting part of the material supply device, and a corresponding counter element on the gun body. The connection is inexpensively manufactured and easily handled. The screw-wedge element extends in an arc over more than half of the circumference of the connecting part with the ends of the screw-wedge element being peripherally spaced from one another. The counter element is an arcuate projection arranged on one side of and above a receiving bore of the gun body.

  • Patent number: 6585173
Abstract: The invention relates to a paint spray gun with a paint nozzle placed on a gun body, an air nozzle placed around the paint nozzle, a compressed air valve placed within a piston borehole in the gun body, a compressed air borehole running through a handgrip of the gun body to the piston borehole, and a pressure-sensing and pressure display device placed in the hand grip. For sensing and displaying the spray pressure, a tube is placed in the compressed air borehole at a distance from its inner wall. The tube forms, in the interior, a channel for the compressed air supply to a part of the piston borehole placed upstream of the compressed-air valve, and borders an intermediate space between its exterior and the inner wall of the compressed air borehole.

  • Patent number: 5088648
Abstract: In order to largely prevent formation of mist in a nozzle head which is attached to a high-pressure paint spray gun, a small spigot from which the paint issues has a very small thickness of less than 0.5 mm. A circular air jet nozzle which surrounds the spigot and beyond whose outlet area the spigot projects, is provided with a depression which fans out the circular air jet. The circular air jet nozzle is surrounded by a rim of air bores which open to the same annulus as the circular air jet nozzle and which have a smaller total cross-sectional area than the area of the circular air jet nozzle and which produce a rotary air umbrella encircling the circular air jet.
