  • Patent number: 9155941
Abstract: A takraw ball side strip (2) comprising an elongate length of plastics material having one side edge of sinusoidally undulating profile having troughs (7) and peaks (6), wherein the strip (2) is shaped or otherwise constructed to be preferentially flexible in peak regions (20) whereby, when the strip (2) is joined by its ends into a hoop (30), peak regions (20) will bend more readily than other regions of the strip. Also disclosed is A takraw ball woven from side strips as described, a more flexible peak region (20) of one strip (20a) may be positioned to overlie a less flexible strip region (34), located between a peak region (20) and a trough (7), of an underlying strip (20b).

  • Patent number: 8800157
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for measuring the drop Y of sports netting (10) strung between opposed posts (14, 16), wherein a datum point (28) is provided on each post, a datum line (42) is provided between the datum points and the distance Y between the datum line and a specified part (38) of the net measured; the height X above ground (40) of the net is extrapolated by providing the datum points (28) at a known height Z above ground (40) and subtracting the measured drop Y from the datum point height Z: the datum line (42) may be a light-weight cord strung between the datum points or a beam of visible or invisible light.

  • Patent number: 5566937
Abstract: A takraw ball having a relatively soft, or elastically deformable, surface and conventional rebound characteristics. The takraw ball may be woven from composite strips, one component of which is elastically deformable material and forms the ball surface and the another component of which is a springy material. The elastically deformable material and the springy material are selected to produce a desired rebound characteristic. The strips have a wide variety of shapes and compositions. In an alternative embodiment the springy material component forms the ball surface and the elastically deformable material provides reinforcement for the strip.
