  • Patent number: 4310962
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for attaching a connecting piece to objects to connect these objects to each other. The connecting pieces each having a filament portion, a head portion attached to one end of the filament portion and a cross-bar portion attached to the other end, are successively severed one by one by the attaching device from a continuous belt of connecting pieces formed integrally from a plastic and having a connecting rod to which the connecting pieces arranged in side-by-side relation are connected through respective connecting portions, and are then attached to the objects to connect them to each other. The improvement resides in a technic which ensures to correctly position the connecting piece to be severed to the severing position even when the connecting pieces in the connecting piece belt are disposed at an irregular pitch.

  • Patent number: 4255111
Abstract: An apparatus for molding a blank of stoppers from synthetic resin, each of said stoppers including a crossbar, a filament portion and a head. The filament portion has a smaller-diameter portion near the crossbar and a larger-diameter portion extending from the smaller-diameter portion toward the head at least on a portion to be stretched.Metal mold members adapted to act as a drawing die are engaged to the connecting portion of said smaller-diameter and larger-diameter filament portions, and after the stoppers have been molded, the members forming the die are moved along the filament portion so that only the crossbars are gripped by the metal mold to prevent movement thereby subjecting the filament portions to stretching.

  • Patent number: 4197075
Abstract: An apparatus for molding and stretching at high speed an attachment device integrally composed of a synthetic resin and comprising a head, a cross-bar and a filament integrally connecting the head and the cross-bar to each other is disclosed. The apparatus is comprised of a fixed frame, two movable frame portions, four mold members, two cam rod members, and a cam shaft. The two movable frame members are movably connected to the fixed frame. The four mold members are positioned on the two movable frame members, the mold members being movable relative to one another. The two cam rod members are secured to the fixed frame, and the cam shaft member is mounted on one of the mold members. When the movable frame members are moved relative to the fixed frame, they cause the cam shaft to move along one of the cam rod members, thus causing two of the mold members to be pulled away from the remaining two mold members, thereby stretching the filament connecting portion of the attachment device.

  • Patent number: 4176151
Abstract: A method is provided for stretching and releasing from a mold an integrally molded thermoplastic resin stopper device. The stopper device has a filament portion, a head portion on one end of said filament portion and a crossbar portion on the other end of the filament portion. The head portion has an end part side faces and an end face. The mold includes a first mold means surrounding the crossbar portion of the stopper device, a second mold means surrounding the filament portion and end phase of the head portion of the stopper device, and a third mold means surrounding the side faces and end part of the head portion. The third mold means has separable upper and lower mold portions.

  • Patent number: 4143113
Abstract: A method for stretching at a high speed an attachment device composed integrally of a synthetic resin and comprising a head, a cross-bar and a filament connecting integrally the head and cross-bar to each other in disclosed. This method comprises applying to the attachment device a force in a direction separating the head and cross-bar from each other while the filament is in the heated state and the head and cross-bar are in the gripped state, thereby to stretch the filament, and immediately thereafter, applying a relaxing action to the filament and releasing the attachment device from gripping means. The ratio of relaxation of the filament after stretching is ordinarily 10 to 40% and is preferably 20 to 35%.
