Abstract: A system for cementing a tubular in a wellbore that includes a sleeve made up of an annular housing with a cement seal on outer surface of the housing. The sleeve further includes a sliding block, a stationary block, an arm attached to the sliding block, and a passage formed through a sidewall of the housing, and that receives a free end of the arm. When the sleeve inner bore is pressurized, the arm moves to move the sliding block into an open space in the stationary block. Inserting the sliding block into the open space forms a seal on the outer periphery of the sleeve which forms a barrier to cement flowing in an annulus between the sleeve and inner surface of the wellbore. Lost circulation material can be deposited in the annulus and which settles along an interface between the seal and wellbore wall.

Abstract: In a hydrocarbon field including multiple production wells and injection wells, at a hydrocarbon field level, a long-term field-level target and optional long-term well-level targets for the field are received by a field-level processor. The long-term field-level target including a long-term field-level production target indicating a quantity of hydrocarbons to be produced and a long-term field-level injection target indicating a quantity of fluid to be injected into the field. The field-level processor determines short-term individual production targets for the production wells and short-term individual injection targets for the injection wells to achieve the long-term field-level target. At an individual well level, individual hydrocarbon productions of the production wells or individual fluid injections of the injection wells are controlled, by at least one individual well-level processor independent of the field-level processor, to achieve the long-term field-level target.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the subject matter described here can be implemented as a method. A location of an entrance to a pipeline pig launcher configured to launch a pipeline pig into a pipeline is determined by an automated pipeline pig handling system positioned at a starting location. The pipeline pig is self-aligned with the entrance to the pipeline pig launcher by the automated pipeline pig handling system. The entrance to the pipeline pig launcher is open. The pipeline pig is inserted by the automated pipeline pig handling system into the entrance to the pipeline pig launcher. The entrance to the pipeline pig launcher is closed by the automated pipeline pig handling system after the pipeline pig is inserted into the entrance. The automated pipeline pig handling system is self-returned to the starting location after inserting the pipeline pig into the entrance to the pipeline pig launcher.
Abstract: Provide are compositions and methods for electromagnetic (EM) surveying of subsurface hydrocarbon reservoirs using a giant dielectric material as a contrast agent. An injection fluid composition for EM surveying may include an aqueous fluid and giant dielectric nanoparticles having a dielectric constant of at least 10000 in the 1 Hz to 1 MHz frequency range. EM surveying of a subsurface hydrocarbon reservoirs may be performed by introducing an injection fluid having the giant dielectric nanoparticles into the subsurface hydrocarbon reservoir and generating an image of the position of the injection fluid from a transit time of emitted EM energy that traveled through the reservoir.

Abstract: Systems and processes are disclosed for producing petrochemical products, such as ethylene, propene and other olefins from crude oil in high severity fluid catalytic cracking (HSFCC) units. Processes include separating a crude oil into a light fraction and a heavy fraction, cracking the light fraction and heavy fraction in separation cracking reaction zones, and regenerating the cracking catalysts in a two-zone regenerator having a first regeneration zone for the first catalyst (heavy fraction) and a second regeneration zone for the second catalyst (light fraction) separate from the first regeneration zone. Flue gas from the first catalyst regeneration zone is passed to the second regeneration zone to provide additional heat to raise the temperature of the second catalyst of the light fraction side. The disclosed systems and processes enable different catalysts and operating conditions to be utilized for the light fraction and the heavy fraction of a crude oil feed.

Abstract: A water content sensor is positioned within a flowline downstream of a well-choke. The water content sensor is configured to determine a water content percentage of a production fluid flowing through the flowline. A temperature sensor is positioned downstream of the well-choke. The temperature sensor is configured to determine a temperature of the production fluid flowing through the flowline. A heating-jacket surroundings at least a portion of the flowline. The heating-jacket is configured to transfer heat into the flowline. A controller is configured to receive a signal from each of the water content sensor and the temperature sensor, and control the heating jacket in response to a signal from each of the water content sensor and the temperature sensor.
Abstract: A new method of gathering data real time during production or simulation tests using a gravity deployed tool, referred to as a fiber-line intervention tool (“FLI” or “FLIT”) to monitor bottom-hole pressure and temperature for well testing including the testing of adjacent wells is provided. In an embodiment, the tool is configured to include a housing, spooled fiber-line, sensors such as pressure and temperature sensors, and connections between the fiber-line and sensors such that measurement information from the sensors can be sent to the surface in real time over the fiber-line. As the housing is deployed into a well, the fiber-line can unwind, thereby providing a communication pathway from below the surface to above the surface. In an embodiment the housing can be deployed through a wellhead and down the wellbore. In an embodiment, the housing can be made of a soluble material.

Abstract: A main bore is drilled with an inclined section extending toward a hydrocarbon bearing earth formation. First and second laterals are drilled from the inclined section downward into the formation at a steeper angles than the inclined section. The first lateral is opened to the formation at a depth greater than a depth of an opening of the second lateral. After completion, well fluid flows through the openings in the first and second laterals into the inclined section of the main bore. In response to an increasing water content in the well fluid flowing up the main bore, the flow of well fluid from the first lateral is restricted.

Abstract: Seismic data obtained from a seismic survey conducted of a subterranean region is received. The seismic data includes multiple frequency components, having a frequency bandwidth. A target, to-be-picked horizon is identified by displaying well data on the seismic section and correlating the seismic reflector with layer tops in the well data. A horizon represents a seismic reflector between two geological layers in the subterranean region. A single frequency that gives rise to a predetermined continuity along the target horizon is determined from the frequency bandwidth of the seismic data. The seismic data is filtered to mono-frequency volumes. The mono-frequency seismic volumes include a single frequency component. A horizon is picked corresponding to the target horizon based on the mono-frequency volumes. The identified horizon corresponding to the target horizon is output for determining geological features of the subterranean region based on the identified horizon.
