The barrel extension is coupled to a hydraulic buffer assembly located below the barrel extension and counteracts recoil forces acting on the barrel extension when the rifle is fired. An op-rod spring is coupled to an op rod extending from a gas piston assembly on the barrel. The op-rod spring counteracts recoil forces acting the bolt actuator when the rifle is fired.

In the takedown position the takedown actuation lever permits removal of the slide from the frame. A safety block is operatively coupled to the takedown actuation lever, wherein moving the takedown actuation lever from the firing position to the takedown position moves the safety block rearward, thereby blocking the trigger from rotating to the pulled trigger position. In some embodiments, the takedown lever rotates counterclockwise from the firing position to the takedown position as viewed looking at a left side of the handgun.

The LEDs are coupled to a microprocessor which is, in turn, coupled to a solid-state electronic inclinometer that is incorporated into the internal structure of the optical system. The microprocessor is configured to selectively illuminate one or more of the visual indicators based on the output of the inclinometer, thereby indicating how the reticle is canted, if at all.

Moving a locking assembly to a locked position draws the chamfered outside edges on the tongue against the chamfered inside edges along the slot opening. A locking plate can be used between the fastener and the tongue. In another example, an adjustable comb assembly includes a cheek plate with posts received in post openings that extend into the stock body. A locking lever is coupled to a fastener that extends laterally through the stock body. Moving the lever to the locked position draws together opposite sides of the stock body to constrain the post openings, thereby retaining the position of the comb.

When the plunger is depressed, one or more protrusions can move from a blocking position to a non-blocking position. In some embodiments, the locking mechanism must be moved to the unlocked position prior to opening the hinge joint. The locking mechanism may be used alone or in combination with engagement structures between the first and second hinge leaves. The hinge joint can be part of a folding rifle stock assembly or other hinged assembly.

When the outer volumes are part of the first flash hider portion, the outer volumes can communicate with the central volume. For example, gas passageways are interspersed circumferentially with outer volumes of the first flash hider portion, where the gas passageways are isolated from first flash hider portion and receive gas flows via vent openings in the outer wall.
