    Abstract: A transparent instrument cover provided with an electroluminescent area arranged so that when energized, light is projected from one surface of the cover to illuminate a dial of an instrument on which it is fitted. In a first embodiment the electroluminescent area is an annular area located adjacent the periphery of the cover, and in a second embodiment an isolated electroluminescent area is located within the annular area.
