Patent number: 4586543Abstract: This device designed for weaving machines enabling a weft selection, comprises for each prefeed and measurement device (1), an electric drive motor (8) having a controlled angular position, such as a "step" motor. The angular position of the main shaft (14) of the weaving machine, detected by means of a coder wheel (24), is converted into pulses (D) which are supplied by a "switching system" (15) which may be switched from the weft selection control (16) to the electronic power circuit (17) associated with the motor (8) of the prefeed device (1) selected. It is therefore possible to drive the shaft (5) of the selected prefeed device through a predetermined number of rotations synchronously with the rotation of the main shaft (14) of the weaving machine.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1984Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Saurer Diederichs (Societe Anonyme)Inventors: Michel Volland, Roger Fourneaux, Pierre Remond

Patent number: 4569376Abstract: The loom reed (5) is formed of dents (9) defining a channel through which the weft is inserted and is drawn and guided by air jets produced by relay nozzles (3). To form the insertion channel, each dent (9) has a triangular projecting front part formed with a recess (6) opening towards the exterior at its top via an escape slit (7) slightly inclined relative to the longitudinal direction of the dent (9). The recess (6) has an offset (d) towards the front relative to the front straight edge of the dent (9). This feature is suitable for weaving threads with non-twisted, non-interlaced filaments, and enables beating-up to occur near the temples (8) after the weft thread has easily been extracted from the insertion channel via the slit (7).Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1984Date of Patent: February 11, 1986Assignee: Saurer Diederichs (Societe Anonyme)Inventors: Michel Volland, Pierre Remond, Roland Boyer

Patent number: 4494579Abstract: A thread clamp, designed for periodically retaining a weft yarn in a loom of the shuttleless type, comprises a housing with a stationary insert having front and rear recesses spanned by respective membranes defining therewith two chambers of variable volume, the membranes being interconnected by a stem passing with clearance through a passage in the insert. One end of the stem, projecting beyond the front membrane, carries a movable jaw normally held against a confronting fixed jaw by a biasing spring disposed in the front compartment. The rear chamber, whose membrane is of larger effective diameter than that of the front chamber, can be expanded by the admission of air under pressure through one or more passages in the insert, the difference in membrane area being sufficient to let the resulting pressure differential in the two chambers overcome the force of the biasing spring to separate the movable jaw from the fixed jaw.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1983Date of Patent: January 22, 1985Assignee: Saurer Diederichs Societe AnonymeInventors: Gilles Grandvallet, Albert H. Patent number: 4448223Abstract: The weft insertion nozzle is mounted on an extension of the sley sole, and the nozzle is pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the sley sole. The nozzle is connected to a fixed point of the loom by means of a retractable connecting-rod. Due to the action of this connecting-rod, the nozzle is in a position parallel to the sley sole during insertion of a pick of weft into the shed, but forms an angle with sley sole in the beating-up position of the sley, at which the weft is cut by scissors. A pneumatic jack supported by the sley sole can also cause the weft insertion nozzle to pivot by retracting the connecting-rod, in order to deflect the weft by directing the weft from the nozzle into a suction mouthpiece so as to prevent insertion of a pick into the shed when a fault is detected causing the stoppage of the machine.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1981Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: Saurer Diederichs (Societe Anonyme)Inventors: Albert H.
