Abstract: A lift truck having horizontal arms straddling the kettle it is to lift, carry, and tilt. On the outer end of each arm is a tilting unit, one being a drive unit, and on the other an idler unit. These units grip the handles of the kettle. They are symmetrical, but otherwise identical. Each includes a swinging pendant latch, which yields on engaging the kettle handle, and then swings back into latching position. The units and the arms have interengaging elements preventing sliding of the kettle when it is in tilted position. A magnetic switch is included for shutting off the tilting driving motor when the movable parts are not in safe position.

A blower and fuel supply means are in the lower compartment. The burner is of large capacity for fast cooking, and the burner includes construction and controls of compact arrangement to accommodate large capacity and small space.

Abstract: A manually movable lift truck having a base with a self-contained power plant therein and a column rising therefrom. The column includes a hollow post with a rotatable featureless shaft therein. A flexible chain has an outer end connected with a lift fork, and runs upwardly and then down into the interior of the post. Miter gears and a sprocket are mounted at the top of the post, and the chain runs over this sprocket. The portion of the chain between the sprocket and lift fork is the only active portion thereof, and the remaining portion remains loose and free.

Flat plastic slide pads in the form of sheets are interposed between the post and sleeve, and detachably fixed to the sleeve in the sliding movements of the latter. The slide pads constitute the only bearing means between the post and sleeve.
