Abstract: This transport system for transferring passive vehicles such as cars, platforms, containers, by means of a continuous-drive conveyor is characterized in that each vehicle comprises, in addition to carrier wheels engaging the main and fixed carrier rail, at least one tire-mounted wheel carried by cross beams projecting laterally from the vehicle, the tire-mounted wheel being adapted to engage intermediate retarding or acceleration tracks, a skid mounted in parallel relationship at the end of the cross beams and adapted to engage endless belts driven at low linear speeds for embarkment and disembarkment purposes, and also for transferring the vehicle to turnaround turntables at the ends of the system, and another skid adapted to engage the main endless belt conveyor for driving the vehicle at high speed.
Abstract: This invention relates to a transportation system comprising vehicles moved on a conveyor, guided and partly supported by wheels rolling on a guiding rail, and provided with at least one braked wheel coming into contact with braking ramps transferring the vehicles from the conveyor to stations, and with launching ramps transferring the vehicles from the station to the conveyor. A load carrying platform is connected at its corners by vertically elastic coupling members to an underframe wherein supporting and guiding members are fastened, transmitting its weight to a center of articulation where it leans on the underframe; and a braking assembly is located straight below the center of articulation in such a manner as to transmit the leaning reaction to braking members liable to come into contact with longitudinal track components.
Abstract: Terminal station return loop device for vehicles, containers or platforms driven continuously along a transport system, which comprises essentially a chain conveyor forming a loop having a relatively short radius of curvature and passing over a platform driven at the same speed as the conveyor, and at least one vehicle equipped with two trains of wheels, i.e. carrier wheels rolling on a fixed rail of the transport line which terminates at the inlet of the platform with a bevelled end, and drive wheels engaging the conveyor chain at the end of an endless belt driving shoes supporting the vehicle when the carrier wheels leave the rail for slipping on the platform by means of their edges.
