Abstract: A combined SAIC receiver and a multiple-antenna, receive diversity receiver are employed to reduce interference in a wireless system. The real and imaginary parts of the de-rotated signal for each receive path associated with an antenna are separately filtered and a combined output signal of all receive paths is generated. The weighting coefficients are adjusted based on an error signal produced by comparing the combined output signal with a reference signal. The weighting coefficients are initially set based on an MMSE/LS type of signal processing criteria, where the reference signal is the Training Sequence Code (TSC). Subsequent adjustment/tracking can be accomplished by using known tracking algorithms, e.g. LMS or RLS, or the coefficients can be re-computed using MMSE/LS processing. The reference signal for tracking may be a combination of the TSC and estimated data symbols provided by an equalizer.

Abstract: A method and system of supporting abbreviated dialing between phones include determining dialing by a first phone of an abbreviated number associated with a second phone. The first phone is in a circuit-switched network associated with a Centrex system and the second phone is in an Internet Protocol (IP) packet-switched network disassociated from the Centrex system. The phones in the circuit-switched network are associated with the Centrex system. The Centrex system supports abbreviated dialing between phones associated with the Centrex system. A routing number for a phone call from the first phone to the second phone is determined as a function of the abbreviated number. The routing number includes IP addressing sufficient to support routing of the phone call through the packet-switched network to the second phone such as if both phones were associated with the Centrex system.

Abstract: A network-based voice activated auto-attendant service is disclosed. In a particular embodiment, a data processor is provided that can construct an enterprise voice directory by executing instructions to encrypt eXtended Markup Language (XML)-based files using an encryption key issued by a voice activated auto-attendant service provider network to form encrypted XML-based files. The instructions are further to store the encrypted XML-based files in a manner that is accessible to the voice activated auto-attendant service provider network, and to create the enterprise voice directory based on the encrypted XML-based files. The enterprise voice directory is configured to provide run-time access to the voice activated auto-attendant service provider network.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for distributing advertising data in an internet protocol television (IPTV) system, the method including dividing a plurality of end user devices in the IPTV system into K advertising groups; multicasting J advertising data multicast groups to end user devices in J advertising groups having a percentile ranking above or equal to a predetermined percentile ranking; and unicasting advertising data channels for actively viewed IPTV channels being viewed by other end users.

Abstract: A master database stores a speed dial list associated with a user of multiple telecommunications services. The database shares the speed dial list with the telecommunication services such that a single speed dial list serves all of the user's telecommunications services. The database receives speed dial list changes made through one of the telecommunications services and shares the speed dial list changes with the other telecommunications services that the speed dial list is maintained in synchronicity amongst the telecommunications services. As a result, the user does not have to manually keep separate speed dial lists synchronized nor does the user have to memorize or access separate speed dial lists. The speed dial list is locally accessible to the user by being stored on a user phone. The speed dial list is also remotely accessible to the user as the database receives user queries from the user via a user phone.

Abstract: Apparatus and a method of securing private content stored in a memory are presented. A terminal includes a memory to store private content. The terminal also includes a security function to compare a private content identifier with a smart card identifier that includes MSISDN information associated with the smart card, to produce a comparison result. The security function grants the smart card access to the private content when the first comparison result is positive.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for presenting video data comprising receiving at a first end user device, displayable video data for advertising a future video event; scanning the displayable video data for scheduling data associated with the future video event; and queuing the future video event for presenting data for the future video event based on the scheduling data. A system is disclosed for performing the method. A data structure is disclosed for containing data embedded in a computer readable medium for providing a functional and structural interrelationship between a processor, the data structure and data stored in the data structure.

Abstract: A synchronous optical network (SONET) system having multi-hierarchal network service access point (NSAP) addressing includes a plurality of network elements (NEs) electrically linked, and a first level routing area and a second level routing area that each includes at least one NE. The NEs include devices having respective NSAP addresses and at least one of the NEs is a network controller that controls the SONET. The first level routing area and the second level routing area are based on a predetermined prioritization of the NEs as first level NEs and second level NEs, and have a first level routing and have a second level routing for the NSAP addresses, respectively, and each of the areas is capable of having at least 151 NEs.

Abstract: A computerized method for presenting an alternative advertising data item is disclosed. In one embodiment the method includes receiving a primary advertising data item in a video data stream in an internet protocol television (IPTV) system; replacing a generic data of the primary advertising data item with alternative data to create the alternative advertising data item; and sending the alternative advertising data item to an end user device for presentation of the alternative advertising data item in place of the primary advertising data item upon occurrence of an end user event. A system is disclosed for performing the method. A data structure is disclosed for containing data embedded in a computer readable medium for providing a functional and structural interrelationship between a processor, the data structure and data stored in the data structure.

Abstract: A spool assembly includes a mount and a spool. The mount has first and second opposite surfaces. The first surface of the mount includes an adhesive covered by a removable cover. The spool is supported on the second surface of the mount. The mount with the spool is attachable to a structure when the cover is removed such that the spool stores slack of jumpers adjacent to the structure upon the jumpers being wrapped around the spool.

Abstract: A computerized method is disclosed for presenting advertising data extracted from a video data stream, the method including storing a plurality of advertising data items extracted from the video data stream at an end user device; and displaying a plurality of sorted advertising indicator data items at the end user device, wherein each of the advertising indicator data items indicates one of the plurality of stored advertising data items. Abstract: A wiring block pre-forms a cable end having twisted wires for subsequent installation of a plug on the cable end. A back end of the block leading to a cavity within the block receives the cable end such that a cable portion adjacent to the cable end sits inside the cavity. A front end of the block has pass holes leading to troughs extending through the block between the cavity and the front end. The troughs receive the wires at the cable end with the wires protruding from the holes. When the cable end is inserted into the block the wires at the cable end have a length within the troughs corresponding to the plug trough lengths and a configuration within the troughs corresponding to the plug trough configuration with the cable portion adjacent to the cable end having a length within the cavity corresponding to the plug cavity length.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for sending targeted advertising data, the method including monitoring in a plurality of data communications networks, single sign on (SSO) subscriber event data from a first SSO subscriber end user device and a second SSO subscriber end user device, calculating product interest correlation scores in a plurality of advertising categories for an SSO subscriber advertising profile based on the monitoring SSO subscriber event data, selecting advertising data in at least one of the advertising categories from an advertiser database based on the SSO subscriber advertising profile, selecting a format to deliver the selected advertising data to a third SSO subscriber end user device and sending the targeted advertising data to the third SSO subscriber end user device. The method includes provisioning a network-based voice activated auto-attendant service via a web interface including downloading a platform independent business to business (B2B) connector package, interacting with the connector package via a sequence of data modeling steps, selecting a connector based on an enterprise information system data source, and configuring the selected connector.

Abstract: A computerized method for selecting a host web site for hosting advertising data is disclosed the method including characterizing in a data communications network, data communications for a plurality of end user devices for each of a plurality of subscribers to the data communication network between the data communication network and each of a plurality of potential host web sites; profiling each of the plurality of potential host web sites for advertising performance based on the characterizing data communications and subscriber profile data for the plurality of subscribers stored in the data communications network; and selecting one of the plurality of potential host web sites as a selected host web site for the advertising data based on the selected host web site advertising performance. A system and a computer program are also disclosed for performing the method.

The method includes sensing at an end user device, reference data inserted into a video data stream from the IPTV system, weighting at the end user device, the reference data sensed in the video data stream based on a data type for the sensed reference data and presenting at the end user device the information selected based on the weighted reference data concurrently with the video data stream. Abstract: A method for multicasting targeted advertising data to end user devices is disclosed. In an illustrative embodiment the method includes but is not limited to correlating at a regional internet protocol television (IPTV) server, multicast queue data with web data from web sites visited by each of a plurality of end user devices associated with the regional IPTV server; selecting a subgroup of end user devices from the plurality of end user devices to receive targeted advertising data correlating with a member of the multicast queue data; and multicasting targeted advertising data associated with the member of the multicast queue data to the subgroup of end user devices from the regional IPTV server. A system is also disclosed for multicasting targeted advertising data to end user devices. A data structure is disclosed for storing data used by the system and method.
