  • Patent number: 5405669
Abstract: Joints for industrial fabrics are made such that the end edge of each part of the fabric is formed with projecting loops (5), which are formed by bending the warp threads of each part backwards, the return parts of these threads being woven into the fabric for a given length. The loops of one part are inserted between the loops in the opposite part for being fixed in this position. It is desirable that all warp threads in the fabric can coact in the joint, even if their collective width is greater than 100% of the fabric width. The individual loops (5) along at least some portion of the end edges (3, 4) of the parts (1, 2) are therefore formed from at least two juxtaposed threads (7, 8; 11, 12) crossing each other at least once (at 9) before the point of return into the fabric.

  • Patent number: 5360660
Abstract: In a woven fabric fourdrinier forming belt (1) for a cellulose drying machine, the majority of the longitudinal wires in the weave are made from polyamide. To achieve that the finished belt has an elongation of at most 5% from loose, dry belt to tensioned wet belt, the longitudinal threads are made from a polyamide where the radio between the number of methylene groups and amide groups has a quotient of at least 7. The belt is round woven to a weaving pattern where the longitudinal threads (2) extend in two or more layers. In addition, the belt is stabilized by heating, pressing and stretching such as to obtain a ratio between knuckle height, measured on the inside of the threads, and total belt thickness has a quotient of at most 0.15 for all longitudinal threads (2).The belt has good wear resistance and low extensibility, and is suitable for cellulose driers having limited streteching potential for the belt.

  • Patent number: 5225269
Abstract: A needled press felt for dewatering of cellulose pulp in a paper making machine consists of a multi layer base fabric having longitudinal and transversal threads. In order to improve the dewatering capability of the press felt and making it easy to assemble, the dewatering side of the press felt consists of layer of coarse yarn (3), which has a weight per unit of length, which is at least twice as great as the one of the remaining parallel yarns (1, 2) of the base fabric. Further a seam which can be opened is arranged transversally to the running direction of the felt in the paper making machine.

  • Patent number: 4911791
Abstract: A machine for producing thin paper web at high speed comprises a forming section (often called a twin wire former), a web transfer section (in which the formed sheet is transferred to the press felt), and a press roll over which the press felt with the web is turned so that the web presses against the warm Yankee cylinder, the web being formed between a felt--or a press fabric (2)--and a forming fabric (3). The forming unit, consisting of the felt and fabric, is placed in such a position in relation to the press roll (8) that the web (10), when separated from the forming fabric (3), is transproted on the top side of the felt (2) into a press nip against a Yankee cylinder (7) surface along a straight path tangentially to the Yankee cylinder surface.
