  • Patent number: 4726559
Abstract: Means of attachment of the kind that comprises a fittings (11) which is easily mountable and dismountable to an object (26) and displaceable sideways with respect to this. The purpose is to provide a means of attachment which is easily mountable and dismountable, which can be fixed along the edge sides of the object without using tool, which is simple and cheap in manufacturing and which offers a strong and effective attachment. These problems have been solved by the fact that the object (26) is provided with grooves (27,28) or the like arranged substantially parallel, spaced apart and opposite each other, that the fittings (11) consists of two plate-shaped parts (12,13) partially overlapping each other, the brought-together position of which corresponds to the distance between the grooves (27,28), and that at least one part (12) is designed with means (17) arranged to fix the free end section (18) of the other part (13) against displacement across the plane of the parts.

  • Patent number: 4460164
Abstract: Apparatus for treating molten metal comprising a ladle for containing a molten metal to be treated having an upper edge, a hood arranged above the ladle and comprising a heat shield essentially covering completely the ladle and having a ceramic lining facing the molten metal in the ladle, with the heat shield and the upper edge of the ladle being spaced from each to define a gap between the heat shield and the upper edge of the ladle. A screen forms and all-enveloping roof over the heat shield and extends over and below the gap to define a circumferential opening between the screen and the ladle below the gap, and spacing means extending between the screen and the heat shield are provided for maintaining the screen and the heat shield spaced apart with respect to each other to define a chamber between the screen and heat shield.

  • Patent number: 4408750
Abstract: The present invention relates to a procedure and an arrangement for spreading pulverized or granular additive material, preferably covering material, on the surface of a metal melt, preferably a steel melt, which is in an open metallurgical ladle by means of a spreading arrangement whereby at least a predetermined quantity of additive is made available in a dosing container whereby the dose is sub-divided into partial doses, the ladle is placed underneath the dosing container, the additive dose is made to fall under its own weight onto the surface of the metal melt and is spread out on the surface by means of a spreader which is connected to the dosing container. The arrangement for performing the procedure comprises a spreader (b 1) which consists of two or more concentrically-arranged truncated tubular cones (2), a dosing container (3), two valves (8), (9) for filling and emptying respectively the container (3).

  • Patent number: 4405363
Abstract: A method for refining of steel melts for production of steel, especially stainless steel, with extremely low oxygen content is characterized in that a powdered non-oxidic earth alkali metal compound or alloy is injected by means of a non-oxidizing carrier gas, preferably an inert gas, into a well de-oxidized steel melt which is covered by a basic reduced slag in a metallurgical ladle, whereby at least a significant amount of the earth alkali metal is oxidized by the oxygen dissolved in the melt to form small particles of earth alkali metal oxide, of which some are separated out to the slag cover while the remaining portion of the earth alkali metals stays behind in the melt in elementary form or combined in the form of particulate earth alkali metal oxide in colloidal solution, and that then powdered earth alkali metal oxide is injected, whereby there latter, larger oxide particles function as nucleus forming agents for the continued reaction between earth alkali metals dissolved in the melt and oxygen, and a

  • Patent number: 4401464
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and equipment of producing with good reproducibility steel which is extremely free from slag inclusions, particularly steel with low sulphur content and thus very low contents of sulphidic slag inclusions, starting with a steel melt which is decarburized in a melting furnace, converter or the like to the desired carbon content, after which subsequent refining is carried out by an injection method in a ladle.

  • Patent number: 4261735
Abstract: In an injection-metallurgical process performed in a ladle, lime is injected during a first phase after the deoxidation, removing the main part of the sulphur existing in the melt. During a second phase thereafter calcium-silicon, calcium-carbide or calcium-cyanamide is injected, which has a devised impact upon the morphology of the remaining inclusions. At the same time the flowability of the steel is improved, which is particularly important in the production of deep-drawing steels.

  • Patent number: 4204572
Abstract: In batteries of tubes conducting a heating fluid air is led through the spaces between the tubes, to be heated for use in grain drying installations or the like. Airborne dust and impurities form deposits on the tubes and impair heat transmission. The deposits are removed from the tubes by increasing at intervals the air velocity by means of a grid structure defining passages having a reduced flow area and placed in front of the interspaces between the tubes.
