Abstract: A seat (1), in particular for vehicles, with foamed plastic padding (4, 5), has a supporting body (7) made of an open-cell elastic foamed plastic having a first specific gravity. A flame-retardant layer (12) made of an open-cell elastic foamed plastic having a second specific gravity different from the first and/or an upholstery material (14) is provided. An intermediate layer (9) is arranged between the supporting body (7) and the flame-retardant layer (12) and/or the upholstery material (14). The intermediate layer is non-flamable, and composed of a lattice or mesh of high temperature resistant fiber or threads, and/or liquid repellent. The supporting body (7) can be foamed on to the intermediate layer (9). A process for manufacturing the seat (1) is also described.

Abstract: A shaped part comprises a body of plastic material, more than 50% of the volume of the shaped part consisting of plastic waste particles and particles of impurity distributed therethrough and embedded therein. The plastic waste particles have a flow point or more than 80.degree. C. and a length of less than 6 mm, up to 70% of the volume of the shaped part comprising plastic waste particles having a flow point exceeding the maximum processing temperature of the plastic material of the body. A portion of the plastic waste particles have a wall thickness of more than 0.5 mm and the remaining portion thereof has a wall thickness of less than 0.5 mm. Particles of the plastic material, plastic waste and impurities are mixed, the plastic material particles are plasticized at a processing temperature of 150.degree. C. to 210.degree. C.

Abstract: A dimensionally stable plastics section, for example a window section, formed from a plastics extrudate and being provided thereon with an extruded layer, for example a sealing or damping device or a protective strip, is manufactured by extruding the section, calibrating it, and cooling it to ensure its dimensional stability, heating part of the surface of the section, to which the layer is to be applied, extruding the layer onto the heated part of the surface of the section so that the extruded layer is bonded thereto and using a take-up device to grip the finished section to remove it.

Abstract: A shaped element consists of a soft and preferably elastic foamed material, comprising cellular webs which have been deformed remanently at least over areas. The shaped element is formed from a foamed material granulate, a soft foamed material having a grain size of 2 to 20 mms and filler material, for example cork granulate, rubber granulate, chalk, calcium carbonate, hard polyurethane scraps or thermoplastic plastics material scraps, with a grain size of 2 to 20 mms, which are distributed in the soft foamed material by the foaming action. The cellular webs or walls between the individual floccules of the foamed material granulate and/or of the filler material are remanently deformed over the areas concerned.
