    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the detection of inflammations, in particular of inflammatory processes in the tissue of mammary glands in humans or animals, in particular in cattle and a test-kit for carrying out said method. The method is particularly suitable for the specific detection of inflammations in mammary glands, for example during testing of milk, whereby the enzyme implicated in inflammatory processes prostaglandin D synthase (PGDS) is qualitatively or quantitatively determined.
