  • Publication number: 20180087970
Abstract: Embodiments of an environmental monitoring system that mitigates complexities in installation and maintenance while complying with strict regulations on operations of the system. The environmental monitoring system may communicate wirelessly between components such as sensor units and display devices, enabling these components to be separately and easily installed in an environment without needing to install wires in the environment to connect them. In addition, in embodiments at least some of the components (e.g., sensor units and display devices) of the environmental monitoring system may be adapted to wirelessly and reliably communicate using specific wireless communication protocols, described in detail herein, that exchange few communications between the components and thereby decrease power consumption of these components. Further, in some embodiments, a display device may include hardware and/or execute software that drive and/or update a display only when a condition is met.

  • Publication number: 20180066996
Abstract: A temperature monitoring service in which remote monitoring units are distributed to customers who then set up monitoring as desired at their facilities. The devices may be registered through a web site using the Internet. Monitoring information may be communicated using a publicly available, wireless network, such as a cellular telephone network. The service may be provided with a system, including a server, which can deliver high levels of monitoring functionality. The server may support streaming monitoring information to a customer for analysis or sending a command activating a device connected to a remote unit. Remote units associated with the same location may be in a pool, comprising one active unit and one or more spare units, in which the server automatically identifies the active unit. The server may support analyzing monitoring information according to an expected cycle pattern of a ventilation system at the monitored facility.

  • Publication number: 20170344677
Abstract: An environmental monitoring system including a base station. The base station may receive at least two reports from at least one environmental sensor in an environment; compute, based on values of physical properties of a simulated object and the at least two reports, a simulated condition of the simulated object within the environment; and transmit, to a computing device, the at least two reports and/or the computed simulated condition of the simulated object. A method of operating a base station of an environmental monitoring system. At least one computer-readable storage medium encoded with executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform a method of operating a base station of an environmental monitoring system.

  • Publication number: 20170328791
Abstract: Embodiments of a certification system for use with an environmental monitoring system that may monitor environmental parameters of multiple different environments. The certification system, which includes one or more computing devices, monitors the certification of environmental sensors of the system. When the certification system detects that the certification of a sensor in a first environment satisfies a condition, such as that the certification is to expire within a threshold period of time, the system triggers the distribution of a certified sensor to an operator of the first environment to replace the sensor for which the certification is to expire. For example, the system may trigger the environmental monitoring system to send a newly-certified sensor to the first operator of the first environment.

  • Publication number: 20150316942
Abstract: Configuring a user interface by which a user can view information regarding one or more conditions of an environment collected by an environmental monitoring system. An environmental monitoring system comprises one or more sensor units disposed in an environment and one or more servers. The servers may receive from an operator of the environment a visual representation of the environment and may identify a position in the visual representation corresponding to the location and configure a user interface to present information regarding the environment based at least in part on the positions. The user interface can be configured to display the visual representation and display information related to the first sensor unit so as to indicate a relationship between the information and the position corresponding to the location of the first sensor unit. Information identifying a location of one or more sensor units may be determined through an automated process.
