Abstract: With the method of processing liquids, fine to very fine organic and/or inorganic granular particles are used, whereby pursuant to the invention the particles are mixed and compressed together in a first step to form an agglomerate that is heated at least to a temperature that is near the melting point thereof. The particles are thereby fixed in place by being subjected to a process similar to sintering for a suitable length of time, whereupon the resulting agglomerate is screened, or reduced in size in a grinder, to a granular size that is suitable for an intended use. This enables stabilizing and filtering aids to be produced with predetermined or predictable physical or chemical properties that are suitable for specific processes.

Abstract: A plate-type filter that is provided with a sealing element that is disposed in the flow path of liquid that is to be filtered and seals off the in-flow region relative to the filling space of the filter housing. The sealing element is movable into its sealing position under the pressure of in-flowing liquid. The sealing element is therefore in the sealing position only when liquid is flowing in. When the filter elements are rotated for centrifuging off the filter cake, the sealing element is no longer in its sealing position due to the absence of liquid pressure, so that the sealing element is not stressed during the centrifuging process.

Abstract: The proposed plate filter is provided for filtering liquids, such as wine, beer, or liquid chemicals, and is provided, in a tank, with plate-like filter elements that are disposed one above the other, and with a central hollow shaft. Also provided is at least one vertical feed line from which feed channels branch off to the filter elements. The feed line is located in the inner region of the filter elements, and the radially arranged feed channels are directed from the inside outwardly toward the filter elements.

Abstract: A rotary disk filter element for a beverage filter for biological filtration. The filter element includes a closed base plate that is in the form of a ring-like member and on which is supported a filter fabric, with a support fabric being interposed between the base plate and the filter fabric. The filter fabric is secured to the base plate between an outwardly disposed retaining member and an inwardly disposed collar member. The collar member is provided with a supply opening for a wash fluid, especially a water/air mixture that is flushed through the filter fabric, counter to the direction of filtration, for removing filter residue for the general cleaning of the filter fabric. The filter fabric is secured to the base plate and to the support fabric at a plurality of point locations. This divides the free support or clamping lengths of the filter fabric into a number of relatively short regions that prevent the filter fabric from being overstretched and bulged during flushing.

Abstract: An electrolyte solution for electropolishing metallic workpieces. The solution includes a base electrolyte, encompassing concentrated mineral acid such as phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, perchloric acids, or mixtures thereof, and at least one additive in the form of polyphosphate added thereto for precluding etching of the metal surface of the workpiece to be polished.

Abstract: A fluid filtration apparatus including a filter packet enclosed by a container and comprised of a filtering element arranged on a hollow shaft through which filtrate is removed. The filtration apparatus also includes a seal arrangement to prevent filtrate from reentering into the space containing the fluid to be filtered. The seal and/or the part including the seal surface can be moved to form a gap to prevent damage of the seal during cleaning of the filtering elements.

Abstract: A method for stabilizing of wine or other tartaric acid containing beverages. Separation of dissolved wine lees (tartar and/or calcium tartrate) from the beverage is effected by passing the beverage through a deposit or settling layer containing tartar crystals and/or calcium crystals. The disclosure for carrying out the method includes a heat exchanger, a cooler, a dosing container, a stabilizing unit, and a sheet filter. The stabilizing unit has several filter elements arranged one above the other and spaced with respect to each other.

Abstract: A boiler or kettle filter, for liquids, with a plurality of disc-like filter elements arranged close to each other in the kettle or boiler. The filter elements are combined into a filter package. A lifting device is arranged in the kettle, and with it the filter package is capable of being lifted over and beyond the kettle or boiler edge by at least the height or level of the respective uppermost filter element.

Abstract: A method of and device for filtering liquids according to which the liquid to be filtered together with an auxiliary filter substance, e.g. Kieselguhr, is introduced into a filter tank including filter elements arranged in spaced superimposed relationship to each other and located on a filter shaft. The auxiliary filter substance, e.g. Kieselguhr, which has a flow and sedimentation speed settles on the filter elements while forming deposits which form filtering layers for the liquid to be filtered. The filtered liquid is withdrawn from the lower region of the filter tank. A transverse flow extending transverse to the sedimentation speed of the liquid to be filtered is superimposed upon the sedimentation speed including the auxiliary filter substance.

Abstract: An intake distributor for a settling tank filter with horizontally arranged filter elements which are located one above the other on a vertical hollow shaft arranged centrally in the tank while at the upper end of the inner tank chamber there is provided an annular chamber which is coaxial with the axis of the tank. This annular chamber on one hand communicates with the inlet and, on the other hand, through a coaxial annular slot or gap communicates with the interior of the tank. A suspension comprising a carrier liquid and a filter substance or an auxiliary filter means is passed through the annular chamber or annular slot in the interior of the tank, and the filter substance or auxiliary filter means while being circulated is settled on the filter elements. The inlet to the annular chamber is divided into at least two branches which lead at equal angular distances into the annular chamber. The flow cross section of the annular slot is considerably less than the flow cross section of the inlet.
