  • Patent number: 11604301
Abstract: A method is provided for identifying and characterizing structures of interest in a formation traversed by a wellbore, which involves obtaining waveform data associated with received acoustic signals as a function of measured depth in the wellbore. A set of arrival events and corresponding time picks is identified by automatic and/or manual methods that analyze the waveform data. A ray tracing inversion is carried out for each arrival event (and corresponding time pick) over a number of possible raypath types to determine i) two-dimensional reflector positions corresponding to the arrival event for the number of possible raypath types and ii) predicted inclination angles of the reflected wavefield for the number of possible raypath types.

  • Patent number: 11598639
Abstract: A navigation service generates a route for navigating from a route origin to a route destination using a private roads repository. A ghost road is along the route, and a ghost origin and a ghost destination of the ghost road is identified. Using an application programming interface of a base roads engine, a request for a route is sent from the ghost origin to the ghost destination. From the base roads engine and in response to the request, a replacement section from the ghost origin to the ghost destination is received. The ghost road is replaced with the replacement section to create an updated route, which is presented.

  • Patent number: 11598185
Abstract: Methods are provided for adaptive optimization of enhanced oil recovery project performance under uncertainty. Predictive physics-based reservoir simulation is used to estimate performance of the project. Input parameters of the model are divided into control variables and uncertain variables. The reservoir model is optimized to obtain values of control variables maximizing mean value of a chosen performance metric under initial uncertainty of formation and fluid properties. An efficient frontier can characterize dependence between the optimized mean value of the performance metric and its uncertainty expressed by the standard deviation. Global sensitivity analysis (GSA) is then applied to quantify and rank contributions from uncertain input parameters to the standard deviation of the optimized values of the performance metric. Additional measurements can be performed to reduce uncertainty in the high-ranking parameters.

  • Patent number: 11585355
Abstract: An electric submersible pump (ESP) with reduced vibration is provided. In an implementation, an ESP section has radial bearings placed at shaft locations of reduced vibration to reduce wear. The locations of reduced vibration are selected to avoid areas of high vibration and vibrational waves that reinforce each other due to structure resonance and natural excitation frequencies. In an implementation, a radial bearing is positioned at a node of reduced vibration of a standing vibrational wave. In an implementation, a succession of multiple radial bearings are spaced at different intervals from each other to avoid conventional even spacing of the bearings that causes standing waves, resonance waves, and vibrational waves at natural excitation frequencies. In an implementation, a span between adjacent radial bearings is selected to spare other adjacent bearings at different spans the effects of vibrations that may extend over a range of excitation frequencies in the ESP section.
