Patent number: 10538983Abstract: Milling systems, tools, and methods include using a mill with secondary attrition system to re-mill cuttings and other debris away from the face of the mill. The secondary attrition system may be located uphole of the mill may be used to stage conditioning and re-sizing of debris. After debris is generated by the mill, the secondary attrition system may re-mill the debris to a finer size before allowing the debris to pass out of the sleeve. The debris may be re-milled by secondary cutting elements while within an annular gap positioned radially between the sleeve and a drive shaft for the mill. The annular gap may have a variable width as a result of a tapered outer surface of the drive shaft and/or a tapered inner surface of the sleeve. The variable width may cause debris to be re-milled into increasingly finer sizes.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2015Date of Patent: January 21, 2020Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Manoj D. Patent number: 10539500Abstract: An integrated approach for cleaning an active surface of a petrochemical sensor. Sensors in the petrochemical industry are often deployed in locations where they are prone to fouling. By heating the active surface fouling substances may be removed from the active surface. Heating the surface above a supercritical point of a fluid being sensed may create a fluid that may serve to clean the active surface. Limiting the duration of the applied heating and/or pulsing the heating may mitigate adverse effects of use of high temperatures. A doped active surface, such as a doped diamond window may be designed to have conductive areas in the window that may be used for resistive heating of the window.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2015Date of Patent: January 21, 2020Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Timothy Jones, Nathan Lawrence, Go Fujisawa, Sheng Chao, Steven Gahlings
