  • Patent number: 11180880
Abstract: A protective cover is made from a piece of cloth cut from a textile web that is initially held at first and second points by respective first and second devices in the vicinity of a corner near respective first and second outer edges forming the corner. The first point is then moved parallel to a plane and above of the piece of cloth to the second point at the second outer edge under entrainment of a corresponding region of the piece of cloth to form a cloth flap shaped as a right triangle having a hypotenuse extending between the points, a first leg forming an extension of the second outer edge of the piece of cloth, and a second leg. The cloth flap is then seamed along the second leg and then cut along a line of the seam. Thereafter the cover thus formed is released at the points.

  • Patent number: 10961646
Abstract: A strip is fastened to an edge of a textile piece by first advancing strip of the ribbon in a direction parallel to the strip of ribbon from a supply. Then a leading end of the strip is gripped a first nip point while advancing additional ribbon from the ribbon supply. The strip is then gripped at a second nip point upstream of the first nip point at a trailing end of the strip. The ribbon is then severed upstream in the strip-travel direction of the second nip point to separate the strip from the ribbon into a sufficient length between the first nip point and the second nip points. The leading or trailing end is then pivoted about at least one pivot axis relative to the other end and positioned near or on the other end, which is then fastened to the edge of the textile piece.

  • Patent number: 7036410
Abstract: A gripper pulls a web off a supply downstream through upstream and downstream clamps. The upstream clamp is closed on the web and a piece is cut off its end. Then the gripper is moved back upstream to form the cut-off piece into a dependent loop while the lower part of the downstream clamp is held down and back out of the way so it does not contact the dependent loop. Once the gripper has moved upstream passed the lowered downstream clamp part, it is raised and advanced downstream to press the web against the upper downstream clamp part. Then both clamps are displaced transversely to move the web as a dependent loop transversely away.

  • Patent number: 6601489
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting sheets from an elongated workpiece is operated by first closing a pair of grippers on a workpiece leading end in an upper station and then cutting off the leading end of the workpiece to leave a sheet held in the grippers. The grippers holding the sheet are then moved downward and in an output direction to align the sheet with an output plane and pass the sheet to an output conveyor. The grippers are opened to release the cut-off sheet to the output conveyor for displacement of the sheet away in the output direction. Then the upper gripper is moved downstream in the output direction until it is out from underneath the input station and the lower gripper is moved oppositely upstream in the output direction until it is out from underneath the released sheet on the output conveyor. The upper gripper is moved upward to immediately above the upper plane and the lower gripper upward to immediately below the upper plane.

  • Patent number: 6390004
Abstract: A double chain stitch is made has by first pushing a needle carrying a needle thread down through goods to be seamed to form below a lower face of the goods a needle-thread loop and then passing a looper carrying a looper thread transversely to a stitching direction parallel to the face through the loop below the lower face to pass the looper thread through the needle-thread loop. Then the looper thread and needle-thread loop are gathered on an element below the lower face and the element is moved with the gathered needle and looper threads away from the needle and looper generally parallel to the face while advancing the goods in the direction to form with the needle-thread loop and looper thread a window. Thereafter the needle is again passed through the window and the gathered needle and looper threads are released from the element so that they engage around the most recently formed needle loop. The steps are then repeated.

  • Publication number: 20020014508
Abstract: An apparatus for aligning a longitudinal edge of a flexible and continuously longitudinally moving web has a support having a longitudinally nondisplaceable face extending transversely across and immediately adjacent the edge and an alignment element having a plurality of parallel and elongated formations engageable with the web. An actuator displaces the element between an aligning position with the formations extending at an acute angle to the edge, pressing the web against the support face, and urging the moving web transversely outward at the edge and a standby position with the formations out of operative engagement with the web.

  • Patent number: 6230596
Abstract: An apparatus for advancing positions of a web material has a first transporter at which the pieces are separated from a web, a clamp which transfers the pieces to the plane of a second transporter and a second transporter operating in this plane in a direction orthogonal to the displacement direction of the first transporter. The second transporter has at least one conveyor at least part of which is movable toward and away from the clamp and toward which the clamp can be moved so that the pieces are transferred to the conveyor and can be displaced by the latter with no spacing between them or with only a limited spacing between them.

  • Patent number: 5941149
Abstract: A holddown bar assembly for a textile-centering and cutting machine through which a web is advanced in a direction has a lower bar underneath the goods and extending transversely of the direction a full width of the web and an upper support bar above the goods, extending the full width of the web, and provided with a vertical guide. A row extending the full width of the web of finger plates are vertically displaceable relative to each other on the guide directly above the lower bar so that the web can be pinched between the row of finger plates and the lower bar. A biasing unit is engaged between the upper support bar and the finger plates for urging the finger plates downward against the web.
