    Abstract: The present invention is directed to an electrical plug-in socket, especially for motor vehicles, which has a hinged lid, a compression spring, for the hinged lid, a chamber for the compression spring molded to the socket housing, and a cam provided with a control curve and molded to the hinged lid. The cam cooperates in such a way with the compression spring, that the hinged lid is automatically held in one of the closed and the open position. In order to simplify the assembly or installation of the hinged lid and in order to lower the material and installation costs, the compression spring is designed as a leaf spring and is molded into the chamber of the plug-in socket housing. The leaf spring has a spherical section-shaped rise for the control curve of the cam.

In this manner, an illuminated electric cigarette lighter is provided which is largely of rotationally-symmetric construction and which can be assembled automatically by means of one single linear mating movement.

    Abstract: An electric cigar lighter, such as used in a motor vehicle, has a bimetallic switch in the form of a snap disk positioned within a socket. When using commercial appliance plugs with such a snap disk, the diameter of the socket does not need to be enlarged compared to conventional sockets. Contact bounce and contact interruptions are prevented. These advantages are achieved by placing the contact disk and a contact part on an adjustment ring inserted with a sliding fit into a tubular member located within the socket. A control knob for the lighter fits into a plug sleeve within the socket. A spring spider on the control knob locks onto an annular bulge on the plug sleeve provides a pressure point for quickly switching the heating element to the on-position.

    Abstract: A method for removing water from the surface of workpieces, particularly, glass workpieces, by dipping the workpieces into a boiling dewatering bath composed of an organic solvent which is immiscible with water and which contains surface active agents, and subsequently rinsing the workpiece in one or more baths of the pure organic solvent in order to remove the surface active agent. The subsequent rinsing baths may be boiling or at ambient temperature and vapors therefrom as well as from the initial dewatering bath are condensed and collected.An apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
