  • Patent number: 5022222
Abstract: A device and process for piecing yarn on an open-end spinning device where a yarn is fed back either from the winding bobbin on which it had been wound previously, during the spinning process, or from a special piecing bobbin via a common back-feeding path to the spinning device. The piecing yarn, drawn off from the piecing bobbin, as well as the yarn drawn off from the winding bobbin is first subjected to the effect of a controllable draw-off action at the beginning of this common back-feeding path upon completion of the piecing process. The yarn, which continues to be delivered by the spinning device, is subjected to the effect of normal spinning draw-off only upon reaching the full draw-off speed and is transferred to an empty tube located in the winding device, whereby the excess yarn segment with the piecing joint is severed and removed when replacing the winding bobbin.

  • Patent number: 5007136
Abstract: The fiber material (of which a yarn is to be spun) is drawn and combed after carding. In order to determine the combing intensity, a sample is taken from the fiber material after carding and is subjected to an analysis for fiber length and/or impurities. Certain limits are set for fiber length and/or impurities and the combing intensity is adjusted according to the results of the analysis. The fiber material treated with this combing intensity is again drawn and is then opened into individual fibers which are incorporated into a continuously spun and drawn-off yarn.

  • Patent number: 5005776
Abstract: A process for replacing a full wound bobbin on a bobbin winding machine with an empty bobbin support, wherein the yarn is wound onto the bobbin support in a bobbin winding zone by a traversing yarn guide. The process includes moving the traversing yarn guide out of the winding zone when the bobbin is completed, and into a cutting and clamping zone for severing the yarn. The yarn continues to be fed by the spinning machine, and will be collected by a suction pipe while the full bobbin is being replaced by an empty support. The suction pipe moves the yarn into a position to be clamped and cut by a cutting and clamping device, which rotates with the support for the bobbin. The yarn is guided to wind a reserve onto the end of the bobbin support before moving the yarn back into the winding zone to be wound by the traversing means onto the empty bobbin support. The invention also includes a device for carrying out the process of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4988048
Abstract: Method and apparatus includes determining the actual outer diameter of a bobbin or empty casing in the axial region thereof upon which a thread is being taken up. The drive velocity of the bobbin or empty casing is then changed relative to operating velocity as a function of the determined actual outer diameter of the bobbin or empty casing. Such adjustment corrects the circumferential velocity of the bobbin or empty casing in the take-up region of the thread for correspondence with the thread supply velocity. Otherwise, the circumferential velocity in such take-up region would deviate from the thread supply velocity on account of the conicity of the bobbin or empty casing.

  • Patent number: 4967549
Abstract: A device for the storage of a yarn of limited length spun on a spinning machine, comprising a suction pipe and a yarn storage chamber. The suction pipe is connected to a negative-pressure line and serves to seize the yarn by means of suction air. The yarn storage chamber is located between the negative pressure line and the suction pipe. The yarn can be aspirated into the yarn storage chamber and can be drawn off once more in the direction opposite to the direction of aspiration. The yarn storage chamber is located in a body which is rotatably mounted. In the process for the storing of the yarn, the yarn is seized by the stream of suction air and is sucked through the suction pipe into the yarn storage chamber. The yarn is accumulated against the screen surface of the yarn storage chamber until the stream of suction air in the suction pipe is weakened to a point where additional aspiration of more yarn is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4958674
Abstract: A full mold casting process in which a complete, positive model made of a thermally decomposable material is placed in a molding box and filled with sand; the sand is hardened by tamping it in. Casting metal is poured on the thermally decomposable model and the model is decomposed by the casting heat. In order to fill up the cavities of the model and mold moldings with crucial cavities, reliably with the molding sand, the sand is subjected to either a positive or negative pressure differential during the sand-filling phase to enclose and fill the model. The filling and hardening of the sand is further assisted through the fact that simultaneous vibration of the molding box is carried out while the sand is subjected to pressure differential.
