Abstract: In acidic Sn(II)-containing electrolytes for coloring oxide layers on anodized aluminum or aluminum alloys, or for electroplating, the Sn(II)-ions are oxidized. By the addition of substances, so called stabilizers, to the electrolytes this oxidation can be more or less prevented i.e. Sn(II) can be more or less stabilized.Furthermore, the effectiveness of the stabilizer can be decisive for the quality of the deposit or the coloring of the oxide layer. It is known that the presence of substantial amounts of Sn(IV) along with Sn(II), as a result of inadequate stabilization of the Sn(II), impairs the quality of the surface treatment.An acidic, Sn(II)-containing electrolyte containing an addition of at least one soluble diphenylamine or substituted diphenylamine derivative stabilizes the Sn(II) and produces flawless coloring.

Abstract: A freight container (1), in particular a lightweight container (1) for air freight, having a support frame structure (3) which is secured to a container bottom (2) and which is formed from shaped bars or like strut members and which is at least partially covered or clad by a skin formed by sheet metal plates, fabric means or the like flat members, with a door (35) being provided within at least one area of the frame, is to be improved in such a way that it can be converted without cost into a so-called fork lift version and can also be restored to the normal version.For that purpose, provided in the interior (30) of the container, on the bottom plate (2), is an intermediate bottom member (52, 73) having channel-like shaped members (53; 72; 73) on its underside, the intermediate bottom member being releasably connected to the bottom plate and/or the support frame structure (3).

Abstract: A belt-type metal-casting machine comprises a metallic casting belt, preferably of steel, having its side turned toward the melt formed with a heat-lagging (thermal-insulating) layer upon which at least one abrasion-resistant cover layer is applied. The cover layer consists of one or more metals whose fusion temperature or melting point in Kelvin .degree. is equal to or greater than 0.7 times the melting temperature, in .degree.K, of the casting metal to be applied.

Abstract: Elevating and conveying system and method for unloading vessels, or the like, comprising: a vertical pneumatic pipe having a lower end adapted for being positioned in the particulate material to be removed from the vessel, or the like; an approximately horizontal conveyor; a joining chamber between the horizontal conveyor and the vertical pipe; the vertical pipe has a smaller cross-sectional area and the horizontal pipe has a larger cross-sectional area, such that material suctioned up the vertical pipe will settle out from the air flow as it moves into the horizontal pipe; the joining chamber is enlarged for reducing air flow velocity and redirecting the flow of air and material; a conveyor means in the horizontal conveyor, such as a fluidizing conveyor, a mechanical conveyor, or the like.
