Publication number: 20090131796Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus and imaging method for harmonic enhancement or suppression are disclosed. A fundamental transmit signal and a 3f0 transmit signal are combined to emit as an ultrasonic pulse signal. For harmonic enhancement, when the phase of 3f0 transmit signal is adjusted relative to that of the fundamental transmit signal, the harmonic signal is effectively enhanced due to the frequency-sum and frequency-difference components being in-phase for constructive combination. For harmonic suppression, the 3f0 phase can be further adjusted for about 180 degrees from that of maximal enhancement. The harmonic signal is effectively suppressed due to the two components being out-phase for destructive cancellation. With the apparatus, both harmonic enhancement and harmonic suppression can be achieved for better image quality in ultrasonic harmonic imaging.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2008Publication date: May 21, 2009Applicant: National Taiwan University of Science and TechnologyInventor: Che-chou Shen

Patent number: 7535272Abstract: A zero-delay clock generator has a phase-locked loop (PLL) that generates a feedback clock and receives a reference clocks. All clocks are differential and have a common-mode voltage. The common-mode voltage of an externally-generated reference clock can vary from the common-mode voltage of the internally-generated feedback clock. Differences in common-mode voltage of the reference clock and feedback clock cause delay variations resulting in static phase offsets of generated clocks. A common-mode sense and equalizer senses the common-mode voltages of the buffered reference and feedback clocks, and generates control voltages. The control voltages adjust the common-mode voltage and delay of differential buffers that receive the reference and feedback clocks. The control voltages adjust the differential buffers to match the common-mode voltages of the buffered reference and feedback clocks. The buffered clocks are then applied to a phase and frequency detector of the PLL.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2007Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Co.
